Alum: Lincoln East has a lot of great teachers! Most of them really want you to succeed! The school admin is fine, I think they could have been more friendly. The students aren't the best honestly. There are a lot of problems with the student body but you can find a good crowd, Personally I'd recommend club members of things like Key club. Senior: Diller-Odell High School is a diamond in the rough. The teachers and administration create a positive learning environment that encourages all students to do their best and help them develop most skills required for college. To increase individual improvement, teachers work diligently with students to uphold excellent learning methods. The clubs, organizations, and sports associated with Diller-Odell are well known and supported throughout the two communities. In our 2019 season, the Griffins' volleyball season was near perfection ending with a 36-1 record concluded with a State Championship win. Student Council, FBLA, FFA, E.N.G.A.G.E., also present excellent records of student participation and activities that improve the school. During the 2019 summer, Diller-Odell built a brand new gymnasium worth nearly $5 million. It was a great improvement compared to the original 1959 gym and was much needed. Sophomore: Southwest is all around an amazing school. There are a wide variety of options for students to earn the credit required for graduation. Because of this, there's something for everyone there. There's an abundance of incredible extracurriculars and their sports are all amazing. The teachers promote communication and independence, and the block scheduling provides students with the opportunity to graduate their junior year. Only having four classes a day really simplifies your schedule and allows you to be more focused and engaged in class with a clearer mind. Senior: Valentine High School is a small school located in the heart of cattle country. However, despite its small enrollment numbers, you will find a very diverse and impressive student body. Students of all walks of life come together through many extracurricular activities, such as FFA, music, student council, and several sports, including volleyball, basketball, cross country, wrestling, football, and track and field. Although there are not as many extracurriculars and clubs as there are in bigger schools, I do not feel that it is a setback for VHS; each activity makes up for what it lacks in numbers with quality and good learning experiences. Senior: What I loved most about Southeast was the music program. Over my four years of being there I felt as if my music teacher has helped me grow as a singer. I also love the friends I made in the music department because of how everyone was so encouraging and accepting. Some of my best friends comes from my choir classes. Senior: My experience at Elkhorn High was very memorable. Because of it’s challenging and rigorous curriculum, it brought out some of my best qualities and helped me develop a work ethic that will set me up for success throughout college and the rest of my life. I learned so much at Elkhorn and I feel very prepared for college! However, there are times where the amount of work that teachers assign us can be a little overwhelming, and I think students could have a slightly lighter workload while achieving the same amount of preparation for college. Senior: Ponca High School is a wonderful school with many opportunities that prepare students for their futures. Some of those opportunities would be the Junior Interview Unit, the Sophomore Career Unit, and the Senior Scholarship Unit. In the Junior Interview Unit, students are taught how to fill out a resume and a cover letter for a job application. After those forms are completed, five local professionals come to the school to interview the students. This unit is great because it prepares the students for their future job or scholarship interviews and applications. The Sophomore Career Unit is awesome because it allows the students to research different careers to see what they are interested in. It helps the students find their path for their futures. Senior: My experience at Crofton High School has been very rewarding. In my opinion, it is the best public high school in Nebraska. Our standards are so high that every student is able to excel with more knowledge than the common teenager. Our teachers know how to push us and help us to where we need to be and even further. They want us to succeed and are close to each student. Crofton is supportive of the athletics and the activities. I am on the cross-country team and the whole football team will go to our home meet every year. Senior: Here at West Holt High School, the teachers and faculty members here are amazing. I've never had a problem with going to a teacher for help. Along with the teachers, the parents of the school are very involved as well. They help with fundraising, volunteering, and are part of the Boosters Club. The parents deserve a lot of credit for all their hard work. Since coming to school here, I've noticed my grades have gone up as well as my social skills. I've become involved in more activities than when I was a freshman. I'm in yearbook, art, FFA, dance, NHS, and I'm a track manager. I believe that I'm being well prepared for college. Every Wednesday, we meet with our guidance counselor about scholarships, college visits, and prepares us for college and graduation. Overall, West Holt is a good school.
