Senior: UCAS is an amazing school! It's an early college high-school where you get to take tons of concurrent enrollment classes and you can graduate high school with an associates degree. I think it's fantastic! While there aren't many clubs, and we have no sports or fine arts programs, it is such a wonderful environment to learn in. The class sizes are small, allowing for more personal connection and better learning. This school encourages students to find themselves and what career paths they want to go down, and it's very helpful. You definitely need to be more academically-motivated to do well at this school, but even if you are lacking in some areas, our teachers and staff do a lot to help each student one-on-one, and you will always get the help you need. Despite the focus on academics, the small school size promotes closer friendships with students, and it's really amazing. Alum: What makes KGMPA stand out amongst other schools in Utah are the genuine teachers and their great teaching methods. Every teacher I have had truly cares about their students and their educational journeys. As it is a small school, everyone knows each other, which makes for great and lasting bonds. I will miss many of my teachers who have helped me grow my confidence in many different fields of study. The only factor about Maeser that I didn’t enjoy is the high expectations. I am a relatively average student, so being surrounded by over-achievers who have impressive resumes really provided me with a battle of comparison. Junior: Academically, sure, NUAMES really upholds the promise and standard for academic focus in the school. I really like being a student at the Ogden NUAMES campus which is a different experience then the main one because were on Weber states campus so we have easy access to the stores, library, centers, gym, etc. But what sucks is you have to pay out of pocket for about everything at NUAMES from lunch to textbooks & they have a lot of requirements in order to stay at NUAMES but I am grateful for the opportunities I've landed upon coming here from early college opportunities, supportive teachers, or assistance in determining my career path; however, one of the downsides for me personally is there isn't a lot of diversity; This isn't the fault of the school, but I'm uncomfortable not seeing many people who look like me or to whom I can relate. Senior: Itineris Early College High School is an exceptional school. Everyone should consider putting their kids in this school. As a student myself, I have had so many opportunities at this school I wouldn't get anywhere else. For instance, Itineris offers Concurrent Enrollment and Early Enrollment college classes. This helps get high school credits, but also a chance at getting an Associate's Degree! That is one of the main reasons I went to this school. The teachers and counselors connect with the students amazingly, there are even college professors teaching here. Itineris is a STEM school so if you are interested in taking a career in that, I highly suggest this school. It gives you the college experience without officially being enrolled in one. Sophomore: The teachers and peers at my school are wonderful. Everyone here is understanding and welcoming; a perfect place to fit in. I've moved around my whole life, and DaVinci is arguably the best school I've been to. The counselors actually want to create a strong connection with you, not to mention, they are extremely flexible when you just want to talk, work out problems, or simply need schedule changes. Sophomore: I found the transition from middle school to highschool really easy at my highschool, I was able to make friends quickly. I love the large class environment which is why I chose to pull out of my schools IB program as the class size of the IB program is quite small. I was however disappointed that there weren’t certain classes I was hoping to take including sign language. I do however appreciate the amount of available higher education available including CE and AP and Honors classes with really good teachers for most of the classes. Occasionally their were the not so great classes and teachers and peers but that’s life and in general I feel very lucky with good teachers that have increased my love for learning especially my math and Chem teacher and a really good community I found quickly.... Our school had a very proactive admin, who always made sure that students had activities they could get involved in, and a place where they could belong. The worst part of my experience came from the backlash of the student body when the racist mascot was changed. In 2021, our school transitioned from being the "Braves" to the "Redhawks". Junior: I love Viewmont! There are many great students and teachers here, who are all working towards the same goal. I feel as though most of my teachers care about me as an individual and wish to see me succeed. They genuinely care about my physical and mental well being as well. However, I will not pretend as though this school has its flaws. There are one or two teachers I have had who do not teach well and have seen examples of bullying and rudeness between students. Senior: I absolutely love Clearfield high school. The culture there is amazing! There is so much school spirit and almost everyone is friends with everyone. You hardly see any cliches and it is all around a very inclusive school. All of my teachers have been so willing to work with me and help me with whatever I needed. I genuinely would rather be at school than at home, I feel like that really says something about the culture of Clearfield. I have made so many friends in my high school experience and there is so much to get involved in. We have clubs for almost anything you could imagine. Clearfield is a very old school but I wouldn't want to change anything about it. We don't care if the lights don't work sometimes. We accept it as part of who we are. Junior: If you're the type of student who works best in the typical standardized public school, you won't do well here. If you're not, Walden is the school for you. The best part of Walden is the diverse, accepting, and supportive environment. LGBTQ+ students are welcome and normal. The school strongly enforces its anti-discrimination and anti-bullying policies, unlike public schools. There's also no shame in having unusual styles, and nobody has ever been teased for being "weird." It's a good safe space, and teachers ask your preferred name/pronouns. The high school has small class sizes. I usually have between 7 and 13 classmates in each room. That makes it easier for teachers to give individual support and cater to students' needs. Teachers make an effort to get to know students personally and work with their learning style to help them succeed. Senior: This year has been cynical at my school. I didn’t expect to like the school at all but as the time passed, I realized that I was jus an addle in understanding. I set myself to struggle with the studies and sacrifice some personal time since I knew what am after, I learned how to mentor, analyze a play/story to form a vignette out of it with details. I liked that the teachers cares about their students, moreover the respect is maximum never minimum they also obey the school laws. The school teaches how to respect and follow directions. “ follow the river and you’ll find the sea”, I recall the maths teacher saying this and it simply settled in my mind like dust on an old book.
