Parent: Homestead HIgh school is an excellent school which offers many extracurricular opportunities for students from an excellent athletics department to band, choir, and countless clubs and organizations for all interests and abilities. The football, baseball, softball, basketball, and tennis facilities are all updated. The academics are excellent and there are many dual credit and AP options. Homestead high places a large emphasis on college preparation and offers many informational sessions for students and parents to learn about how to best position themselves for success in college. There are also many trade specific options such as Anthis which includes automotive, plumbing, and electrical experience. The school is currently under renovation and includes multiple gyms, athletic facilities, state of the art theater, modernized classrooms and cafeteria and is centrally located in southwest allen county near the YMCA and middle school. Senior: My experience at Bluffton High School was amazing! Going into high school as a Freshman I was nervous and didn't know what to expect. Something that stuck out to me about Bluffton is how welcomed you are as a Freshman. Everyone around me at school welcomed us Freshman and made us feel like we have been there for forever. Junior: I really like the curriculum at Garrett. I’ve been to a lot of schools and I was pleasantly surprised with the classes they offer. They do not offer AP courses but pretty much every subject has a Dual Credit version of it where you can earn college credits as well as high school credits towards your diploma. These college credits really stack up and prove to be an asset on college applications. Many people graduate Garrett either close to being or being a sophomore in college from the amount of college credits they already obtain. I would like to see more diversity but that’s something the school doesn’t have a whole lot of power over. The teachers are very personable and focus on student to student. They will help those who need it and dedicate time to making sure that the students understand. It is honestly the school with the most friendly and inclusive teachers that I have ever attended. Junior: It is hard to pick just one best part of my school. The teachers, for the most part, are amazing. They sincerely want students to succeed. They are supportive and knowledgeable. I love the school spirit and culture of my school, as well. However, the student body has opportunity for improvement when it comes to inclusion and upstanding character. Alum: I was recently enrolled at New Tech Academy at Wayne High School. I profoundly believe part of who I am today is due to the education and life skills I learned here. Instead of sitting at traditional desks and completing "normal" homework, I was taught through "project based learning", allowing me to develop strong leadership and communication skills. Aside from academics, New Tech prioritized students taking part in a family culture. From door decorating contests at Christmas to large homeroom potlucks at Thanksgiving, I experienced what it truly means to be at home, at school. Sophomore: There were many bad parts to the school but there were also many great things, such as the teachers and sports events. Most of the teachers try and help you succeed, and the sports events were very accessible and a nice way to see your friends outside of school. Some of the worse parts of the school were the issues with the busses and the issues with the students. Many of the students brought weed and vapes to school which was sometimes a disturbance, and the busses were almost never on time to pick us up from our area or pick us up from school. Junior: New Haven High School is a really enjoyable school. With its organized chaos, there’s always new events happening. One downside of the school is that it doesn’t offer any AP classes. On the other hand, it has dual credit classes as an excellent alternative. However, all the teachers are wonderfully enthusiastic, and they all have a unique way of teaching. In return, they make their classes interesting, which is definitely a big plus. Another nice factor is that the school was recently remodeled while constantly bringing in new technology. The school has also been successful with its sports program. One example is Mylan Grahams, who is committed to Ohio State as a No. 3 wide receiver in the class of 2024. Additionally, New Haven High also has one of the best baseball coaches, Dave Bischoff, who played in the big leagues back in his prime days. Senior: The Best part of smith academy is the Teachers. All of the staff are there to help and assist a student in a variety of different aspects of the classroom. And sometimes they take time and they talk to and get why you function the way you do. For example, you are having a bad day, they will pull you aside and ask if everything is alright and when they do this they give you options on how to solve what is happening. The bad part of smith is the way they discipline. By this I mean they don’t have different rules for say a 6 grader and someone in 12.
