Senior: I absolutely love how close the community is, it is such a small school that we know absolutely everyone from grades pre-k to 12. Everyone loves everyone, and we are always there to support everyone in the entire school. Somethings I would like to see, not necessarily changed, but added, would be some clubs. We have no clubs, and I'd like to see there be at least one, so everyone has more options besides sports, or going home.

High School Junior: I came to this school in the ninth grade. Everyone in my class had known each other since kindergarten, however they welcomed me right in and made me feel comfortable. The atmosphere at school is very relaxed, nonchalant, and comfortable. Everybody knows everybody and there is no "popular". Everybody gets along and is friends with everybody else. Most of the teachers are spectacular and form personal friendships with the students. They are always willing and eager to help students out. The sports and music departments thrive despite being small in numbers. I couldn't ask for a better high school experience.

Senior: This is a great school overall-the main problem is the facilities. The building is old and needs serious renovations. We don't have a stage for performances and I played in the band for four years, so I understand how much the school really needs a proper area for concerts and plays. The building is also poorly heated and rundown.
A highlight of my education at this school was my guidance counselor. In fact, the entire department is first rate. They are helpful, caring and knowledgable on everything a student needs to succeed. I can't thank them enough for all their help and support.

High School Junior: Even though Poultney High School is retentively small, many opportunities still hold, some even that other public schools don't have.

Alum: I had the most amazing experience at Rutland High School. I was given the the best opportunities throughout my time at RHS. I was able to better my community through service projects and fundraisers supported by my high school. I was able to be a part of so many things; Mock Trial, Student Government, Environmental Club, National Honor Society, Speech and Debate, and Global Citizenship. Through all of these opportunities, I became better ready for my college experience ahead of me at Connecticut College. RHS gave me support throughout my four years and I would never trade it in for the world.

Senior: As a senior at this school and having attended it since the 7th grade, I can thoroughly say that this place was fantastic. The teachers were excellent and made you feel helped and safe. The school provided a safe learning environment for everyone of all learning abilities. Personally, I never once had an issue with a teacher here, everyone was willing to work with you to get you to the level you wanted to be at. Also, the school is constantly changing and working towards a better school for everyone. These constant updates in the school allow it to be successful in both reaching students academically and personally.

Senior: I was only at MillRiver for my senior year of high school but the time I was there was pretty great. I transferred from a very small school of about 150 kids so the change was pretty drastic but the teachers made me feel very welcomed. Compared to other schools the music department is just phenomenal, so many different choir groups to join and opportunities for all students and all forms of music are taken very seriously. They have many different AP programs I wish that I had access to before my senior year and the easily accessible option of early college at Castleton nearby for free. And there’s A LOT to do after school, most of which I didn’t do lol but I hear great things from others. Many classes to choose from and they make sure you get at least one break during the day and I will say the counselors and nurse are amazing! Wish I could’ve had more time, I think if I had been there for all 4 years of high school I’d be more than ready college!
