Senior: My junior year was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat! Studios and instruction you’d expect at a private art college are accessible here all just within a few steps from one another, especially as a visual artist, where I was exposed to ceramics, metals, printmaking, drawing, painting, animation, graphic design, sculpture, and many more. I believe that although some experiences may have been altered due to the COVID pandemic, there was plenty to do in the studios, and I was encouraged to explore in ways that would benefit my artwork regardless of the pandemics limitations. Likewise with how collaborative work was used in art studios, academic classes equally engaged the entirety of the classroom, despite how some of the content was particularly challenging. One element to this school that would improve it is an effort to increase an outreach to more diverse communities, as we need many kinds of individuals welcomed and informed of the school.... Senior: I have attended Green Charter School as a student since 7th grade. The School is public but managed like a private school. I give it four out five stars. I think the School provides a special environment for students. The Middle/High School is Small with less than 300 students. Even though the campus is still very diverse with student from America, Middle East, Europe, Central and South America, and India. The social order of students isn't really a problem as a lot of student would be considered nerds or geeks in other schools. We also have to wear uniforms to school. Administration is sometimes overly-strict and exaggerating at times. This is especially true on dress code issues and interactions between genders. I do wish the school cared and supported the Music and Arts more. I also wish the School would invest more in the prospect of having a library. We do have Sports teams. Parent: Greenville Technical Charter High School is a great school! It has small class sizes that allow faculty to get to know students well and help them when needed. The faculty seem to care about the success of each student. The great opportunity exists here to explore Greenville Technical College’s course offerings while in high school, and make progress toward (or complete!) an associate’s degree while still a high school student. Being on the main Greenville Tech campus is an advantage over the other similar charter schools as there are college courses offered on the main campus that are not available on the other Greenville Tech satellite campuses, allowing for a larger variety of college credits to be easily earned. GTCHS retains all of expected high school experiences (athletics, fine arts, student social events, student organizations) while also serving the community by students completing service hours through many varied opportunities. Senior: As far as academics, Brashier is a wonderful school. Most of the teachers really take the time to care for each student on an individual level. Brashier offers academic assistance for students after school and allows for retesting on Fridays. The high school partners with Greenville Tech to allow students to take college classes beginning their sophomore year. However, the school does not offer many art or musical outlets for students and clubs are limited. The same can be said for sports. Brashier is definitely academic-oriented. Senior: My experience at Greer Middle College Charter High School has been wonderful! The teachers are truly extraordinary and they go out of their way to help their students. The administration does an excellent job of running everything and keeping everyone on top of their game. As a student with an IEP, I must say that Greer Middle College does a tremendous job of making sure I have access to all of my accommodations and that I will always get help when I need it. Alum: I loved this high school, there were so many paths to choose from. They offer courses at the Donaldson center, fine arts center, they have several classes here, and they always make sure students do their best in the core classes. So many amazing teachers and faculty working here! The AP classes are amazing as well, they really get students prepared for college level classes while improving their overall GPA in high school. The teachers are truly gifted and passionate about aiding the students in their coursework. The staff is extremely helpful and flexible in scheduling any necessary sessions or meetings. Senior: I went to Mann all 4 years and I am glad I went there. I am about to be a freshman in college and feel like I was prepared perfectly for being on my own. If you ever need help like mentally or help in any other form all you need to do is ask and they will help, I can say MOST of the staff at Mann are extremely nice and within a couple of weeks will become your friend there are a few exceptions, some adults just take themselves too seriously never forming nice relationships with their students. They could put more money towards science and math and not towards football when we NEVER win, so more field trips and experiences for the students can happen instead of being stuck in the class 180 days for 4 years straight. Something I do wish was different was the representation of diversity. Especially within the students/student council. Alum: Every teacher in this school wants you to succeed. Although some classes are challenging, the teachers offer to help whenever they are needed. Junior: My high school experience has been very immersive and diversified by the opportunities and programs offered at my school. With an international baccalaureate program as well as multiple advanced placement classes and dual credit options, I’ve been able to grow my knowledge as a student immensely and get to know my interests and niches. We have a very incredible staff that is open to ideas and constructive criticism, known for taking students ideas and making them become a reality. I’ve always felt that my opinion mattered and other felt this way too. An example of this is when a small group of people came together to propose an idea to our English teacher. They wanted a speech and debate club. He immediately jumped in this idea, did his research, consulted other staff members, and soon there were posters around the school and the first meeting was set. Junior: Legacy is a really good school that holds all scholars accountable for their academic progression and actions. What makes legacy so great is that their preparing us for college something that many schools fail to do, they care not only about our academics but the scholars as well. Alum: I was the first class to graduate from the newest building so you could tell that the facility was respected and cared for. I only wish we, as a music and fine arts department, had adequate training with the new theater autoroute and music rooms. The school was built to house and be able to supply so much from organized music storage room to music practicing rooms to start-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment, but no of the students nor faculty knew how to work the equipment or had proper respect for the new, innovative ways that it was given as a new facility. Additionally, the faculty of the regular subjects on the other hand, we very knowledgeable about their causes. But as in most high schools, some students just will not give their best so the teachers are forced to give time and energy to corralling those who refuse to grow learn and develop.... Senior: I went to Woodmont high school my freshman to senior year. My experience there was very good. I made a lot of friends, some in the same grade as me and some in different grades. I tried hard in school to get good grades and my teachers helped me a lot with that. The teachers at Woodmont not only would help me learn but they also became people who I could rely on if i needed help with anything aside of school. Before Covid happened Woodmont help many events to make sure the students would still have fun at school and so we could get to know our classmates. Even with Covid the school still did what they could to make sure people were involved and having fun. In my high school years I wish I would have gotten more involved and would have made more friends. Junior: I wanted to start off by saying that I am very thankful for everything my school, Hillcrest High has done for me. To review my school in their teaching of academics, there are many variables to take into consideration, for example, student performances, teachers efforts in teaching, teachers teaching methods, students effort in learning and many more. Therefore, my review can vary, but to give a more precise review I would say that Hillcrest High School's academic program from my perspective was wonderful, because I was able to take advantage of it and learn many things!
