Senior: In terms of academics, I find Staples High School to be amazing. Our school's classes are very challenging compared to other schools, which I think pushes students to be better. The English department has a wide variety of courses (although I wish it had one more honors class), the math courses go into very high levels, and there are more AP classes than one student could possibly take. We take independent learning classes to learn a topic of our choice.

I think students obsess over numbers and attending prestigious colleges. Much of students' respect for a college education stems only from prestige. Weaker students also feel like they are less than those in AP classes.

We severely lack diversity. While we have minorities of every kind, our students and teachers are very mainly white. We haven't had one black teacher in the school until LAST YEAR. That's bad because it brings us to think of white people as the authorities of our society, since they're the ones we see as we grow up.

Alum: My experience at Joel Barlow High School was good. The majority of teachers were amazing and incredibly helpful. They truly help you prepare for college... although that had its ups and downs. The amount of coursework at the school is overwhelming, having to complete hours and hours of homework each night. This did make the high school to college transition easier, but I could even argue that I had more work in high school than I do now! Since I've graduated, the school has had to let go of some of my favorite teachers and guidance counselors. I truly hope that the school is similar to how I remember it, despite the absence of these influential adults, because I can honestly say I had a great high school experience. There are opportunities for all students, whether that be in theater or sports.

Alum: Darien High School gave me the best four years of my life. DHS did not only prepare me for college, but also for life. The DHS community is very welcoming and positive. There is so much to do like athletics, clubs, musics, art, etc. The faculty and staff there are very kind and dedicate their time to teach us and keep the school safe. From day 1 to the last day of school, my western civilization teacher told me and my fellow classmates that, "we are receiving an education to become productive citizens for human civilization." That has been the motivation for me in order to be successful in life. The teachers there are very kind and put all all their effort in the students in order for us to understand the content in class.

Sophomore: I really like New Canaan High School because of its positive learning environment, variety of options for courses, and dedicated teachers. The students are relaxed and pleasant, making going to school both fun and educational. There are multiple different levels of difficulty for almost all courses (such as Honors and AP classes), and there are many different choices for electives, spanning from woodworking to fashion merchandizing. Finally, the teachers are all very dedicated to their work, focused on improving the educational environment of their students, and widening knowledge of their respective topics. Overall, New Canaan High School is a great place to learn.

One can play numerous sports and challenge themself physically. A student can take multiple honors or AP classes and challenge themself mentally. From culinary classes, to wood working, to mechanics, students are challenged to learn a new school. Numerous language classes are offered and trips abroad strength what a student learns. From computers, to TV programing, to coding, if computers are your thing there are many options. Warde has a safe campus with a great staff to insure every student enjoys and grows in their years on campus. I personally have truly enjoyed my time at Fairfield Warde High School and know they have given me the tools I need to be successful in college.

As a junior, I feel that I have been thoroughly challenged by the classes I took over the past three years. With that, I feel that Ridgefield High School has offered a wide variety of courses and opportunities that are not at other high schools. My experiences with teachers has been incredible, and I find that they are extremely dedicated to their work and their students. Not only this, but the school has always been a fun place for students, offering a wide range of athletics, clubs, and other extra curriculars. Students are given many opportunities to get involved in not only the school, but in the greater community, especially through our highly selective National Honors Society. I have had a truly incredible experience at this high school, and I can't wait to hopefully return in the fall!

The different courses offered provide a balance between personal and creative thinking–such as through essays or tests–and collaborative activities to help students achieve personal growth through listening to and providing feedback on their fellow peers' ideas. Overall, the school is quite competitive and rigorous (which is not for the faint of heart), but the academic growth each student experiences during their time at Weston High School is immense.

Junior: Overall I think Wilton High School is a great school. We have access to a lot of resources, including wide course and extracurricular variety. I've had a generally positive experience with the student body, there are a lot of students and many different groups to fit in with. On average the teachers are good, though there have been some battles with administration over trying to get certain teachers fired - that's a concerning trend. Wilton is also definitely lacking in the diversity department, as most people are wealthy and white (more as a result of the surrounding area, not the school). Overall great education and resources for a public school.

Junior: The teachers and people were pretty good. I liked that there were a great deal of clubs to participate in. There were clubs like UNICEF, political party clubs, and clubs for every subject in the school! The teachers were mostly helpful. There were a few teachers that were unhelpful, but there were also very caring teachers as well. There was a decent amount of school spirit. The kids could be a bit cliche but many were very kind also. The school has a lot of resources and computers and other technologies. They have a good library and the librarians are very resourceful. The class sizes are good and there are many class events like dances during the year. Everyone has their own chrome book, which is useful for the students. The diversity is not great, as there are mostly Caucasians. The safety is very good and there is an on site police officer. the administration is professional and we have plenty of staff. It would be helpful if there were more guidance counselors.

I do not know what I would change about Brookfield High School because it is really the only school I have ever known, and it is pretty great overall.

Senior: I like Masuk High School. The classes are pretty interactive and allow you to create relationships with teachers. There is a huge sense of community at Masuk where all students have a lot of pride in the school, which can especially be seen at sports games, pep rallies, spirit week, and other similar events. The teachers are always there to help out with extra help sessions after school and are happy to be teaching. There are many sports and clubs at Masuk that allow students to express themselves and their interests. Overall, it is a great school that gives students a great education and prepares them well for college or whatever path they may choose to follow in the future.

Senior: More classes that are about different careers. Better sports and coaches and more family allowed things. The school itself my mother graduated from also and some of her teachers are still there 30 years later so maybe some younger teachers that are more involved with the correct ages of high schools kids instead of 60 year old teachers. Maybe more time to spend with guidance people so that you are better prepared. But all and all it is a pretty good school. Needs some updates and maybe some new items. But spending the past 4 years in there OI have come to enjoy my time at Bethel High School and will actually miss the day to day things that go on. I will miss football, my classes, and most of my teachers. There are a good amount of great teachers that want to teacher you and want you to be great n life and get a good job and live your life. Others seem to want to make you be a super book smart person. But I will say for the most part the school itself works well and educates

Senior: I truly love being able to see the large range of classes that New Fairfield High School offers. They have a wide range of elective choices that allows students to pick courses of their interest and possibly explore a future major. I also believe that they have wonderful accelerated programs. They have a great science acceleration program which allows you to take physics and chemistry in one year. This allows students to take two science APs throughout their high school career. Also, I do have to say that I have had amazing teachers throughout my time at New Fairfield High School. The teachers who I have encountered truly car about the wellbeing of their students, not just academically, but also emotionally. This is not something that you can see with every teacher, so I was extremely blessed to have people who I knew I could go to if I was having a hard day, or just needed to talk about an assignment.

Also, the curriculum from this school prepared me greatly for college. My first two years of college I got straight A's because it was stuff that we went over from sophomore, junior, and senior year. Senior: There wasn’t another school I wanted to go and I was excited to come here, but this school is definitely not perfect. My biggest complaints are with administration and teachers. The administration here is laughable. They don’t do much and everyone knows it. I wish they cared more and were better at there jobs but it doesn’t seem like they’ll be changing anytime soon. Also, some of the teachers here are laughable as well. Some are creepy, have had multiple strikes on their file for various concerning reasons, don’t know how to teach, or just generally don’t like kids. Despite that, there are a couple of teachers who are really passionate about their job and make learning fun! All in all, I’m still glad I went here but there were things I would change.

I do believe the administration can do better to interact with the kids but overall it is a good school. Any child who has their future set up would love to explore the trade portion of the school. You get to gain many experiences and opportunity under your belt. They also make sure to help you feel prepared and have a class dedicated to making a resume of your own.

Junior: What I like the most about being at Shelton High School was the school spirit. From the administration down to the parents everyone was involved. Football games and basketball games were always packed with families, faculty and students. What I would like to see improve at the school is the distant learning process. Unfortunately, spring of 2020, we had to home school and the process was not very beneficial for students. We were unable to Zoom with the classroom and teachers. I would like to see more interaction with the teachers if we have to go back to distant learning.

Senior: My favorite part about going to BHS was that I was able to have fun while learning. I feel that I was able to reach my full academic potential while also having time to be involved in extracurriculars and other things outside of school. The environment was welcoming and the teachers' main focus was for you to succeed; I looked forward to going to school everyday. As a senior, I can confidently say that I will miss being a student at Bunnell High School. Go bulldogs!

Alum: I can't say enough great things about this High School, not only was it newly renovated when I attended back in 2010 but it is full of staff who is genuinely wants to see you succeed. You do half academics and half technical shop. Contrary to popular belief this high school WILL prepare you for college if you decide to go after you finish your trade. The non-shop professors are highly qualified to teach all of the subjects. You can choose to engage in a club where you will make friends outside of your classes. I was also part of the cross country team. The coaches are very supportive and will push you to be the best version of yourself! If I could change one thing about this school would just be the food. I am sure it probably has greatly gotten better since I left.

Senior: Overall, Stratford High School is a great school. The environment is safe and faculty and staff are helpful and kind. This year, school is a lot different than the last three years due to COVID-19. We currently are using the hybrid model where I only go to school Mondays and Tuesdays and on the other three days, I am doing distance learning. Even though we are going through difficult times, whenever I need help with my classes, the teachers are more than happy to assist me whether it’s online or in person. As far as activities and clubs that the school offers goes, I am a part of the Football Team and Track Team and have been for all four years. I was one of the Football Teams Captain as well this year. What an experience and I am so grateful that I was chosen for that role. I love being a role model for my team and for the youth of my community. Although, we didn’t have a regular season, we were allowed to play 7 on 7 rather than tackle football due to the pandemic.

Parent: Many pros. School has an amazing philosophy (i.e., seek holiness in the ordinary world). Academics are rigorous. Philosophy & history departments are outstanding. English courses are phenomenal. CHEM, Physics, and BIO instructors are solid. Catholic theology is made relevant. Chaplains are awesome! Music & theater dept is incredible. Athletics are good. Soccer, lacrosse & track are strong. Service is encouraged. Intern'l study is available. School forms strong women. Cons are: high tuition; high faculty turnover; inconsistent math instructor quality; lacking in foreign language courses; ethnic diversity exists, but outside of the classroom a missing element of friendly inclusiveness exists; school isn't equipped for learning differences & falls short of Catholic school guidelines; much subrosa mean behavior among girls goes uncorrected (on and offline)(school doesn't monitor seemingly libelous harmful student social media use) & college counseling could be better for the price.

Parent: SCSS is an outstanding investment for your child's development. SCSS provides a high quality education with a very dedicated, caring faculty and staff.
