Freshman: The overall academic resources and administration within West Linn is excellent. There are a plethora of accessible tools and lessons to help prepare for college and achieve progress within both STEM and liberal arts programs. The clubs, activities, and sports are also excellent. Senior: Lake Oswego High School is one of the best public high school in the State of Oregon. What makes the school top drawer are the teachers and administration who are dedicated to higher learning and helping each student be their best version of themselves. Although the gym and pool and other sports fields are dated, the classrooms and facilities are as good as they come. There is excellent support for special needs students and those that need remedial help. Senior: Wilsonville High School is the only high school I have been enrolled in so it is very hard to compare. As I have lived through four years of the unthinkable, Wilsonville High School has been somewhere to lean back on and know that during Covid, they were there to help me in any way. Having relationships with teachers has been very beneficial for me, but rare to find. Senior: Colton High School is a rural school with very few students. Many people from surrounding districts have transferred to Colton in order to escape the bullying and discrimination they find in larger schools. However, Colton does have its own problems much like anywhere else. The school has a very limited budget and therefore cannot afford to have many elective or pay for higher-end programs. Although, the teachers that Colton has chosen have a very good background in the subjects they teach, they are not given the budget to teach students using kinetic learning because they cannot purchase those materials most of the time. Also, extracurricular activities that would keep children well engaged in the classroom are very limited. Senior: Rex Putnam High School is a school for me. The teachers and staff are very supportive. On top of that, the educational system has a good structure. Also, health guidelines and policies are well kept and for the safety of all the students. It's a great place with lots of quiet study places. Also, the college preparation is done well and highlighted throughout the years with great tips and classes, along with helpful counselors. Senior: I moved from a small town to Oregon City and started attending the public high school last year. Overall, my experience has been great and I'm much happier than I was at my last school. The teachers have been overall helpful and supportive, as well as more qualified than my last school. I'm impressed with the amount of help they've provided to each student, especially after the pandemic. The students was something I had to get used to, since coming from a much smaller school. However, I've met some nice people. There are definitely a lot more disrespectful students in the classroom than I've seen before, though. Sophomore: MAA is the charter school for Milwaukie High School, and don’t be fooled, you can still take classes at Milwaukie (in fact you will have to for many classes). I’m currently heading into my sophomore year and think the connections between MAA and MHS students are lovely and they clash well, with MAA core classes being MAA only and things like health and PE being mixed. Arts lab, an exploration into college level skills, is the only MAA exclusive class. There’s a great diversity of LGBT+ students, though I struggled because a lot of friend groups are closed off at the beginning. Alum: I really enjoyed my high school experience at MHS. I was involved in sports and music for all four years of high school. This allowed me the opportunity to connect with a variety of different students, faculty, and the community of Milwaukie as a whole. There is such a rich history at Milwaukie because there are several faculty that I knew who went to Milwaukie High School and decided to return because they enjoyed it so much. Senior: I have never felt unsafe at Clackamas High School. I mostly focused on my academics, which were thorough. I had many classes to choose from, including Career Technical Education. I've taken advantage of the numerous elective options and am grateful that I had that opportunity. I've had a few teachers who were somewhat incompetent, but never genuinely mean. My counselor and teachers are supportive of me and want me to succeed. However, I do feel disconnected from the administration and the school culture and spirit because my school is huge (over 3000 students). I have low school spirit. My school also isn't diverse, which is unfortunate, but neither is Clackamas, so CHS can't really do anything to fix it. We have several fantastic programs: sports teams that consistently place well at competitions, the choir program is great, and the theater program is amazing. Freshman: Gladstone High-School was filled with positives and negatives during my freshman year. The best part of my High-School experience during my freshman year were the teachers. They really pushed you to be the best of the best. They made you think outside the box. They were sweet and nice, but they didn't treat as kids or children. We were treated how we wanted to be treated, we were treated how we acted. Most of the time we acted like adults and are age. Though there were sometimes we did act like we were three years old. The couple of negatives I have are that some of the teachers had a problem of getting there lesson to connect to the students. Also as Gladstone is a public school there is time some racism that occurs. Senior: My experience at Sandy High School was the best experience I've ever had at a school. I enjoyed every second of my high school experience thanks to the students, teachers and staff. This school is very well organized and has many different opportunities for each student as an individual. I have gotten the best education because the teachers there genuinely care about their students. Thanks to my school counselor I have gotten so much done that I only needed 2 credits at the start of my Senior year and I know exactly what I want to do after high school. I would consider myself friends with most of the students at Sandy High School and they're all amazing and respectful individuals. I believe the friends I have made will be my life long friends. Alum: The school is amazing! Art tech was created for students who don't function well in main stream classes. The staff is amazing, they care about the students and get to know them on a personal level allowing the students to form a trusting bond.
