Parent: Our son has attended Lycée in Sausalito the last two years. Our family is not French speaking so we are amazed at his progression in both English and French. He loves his classmates and teachers and is excited to attend each and every day. The teachers are all very committed to the students and spend countless hours setting up above and beyond activities like regular baking activities, gardening, field trips and STEAM fairs! You should really check this school out if you have an interest in raising a bilingual child (even if you yourself aren't bilingual!)

Alum: I transferred to DSIS in the fall of my senior year. I was on track academically, and had more than enough credits for graduating at my high school, but I was itching to spend more time at the park and in the library than in a classroom. When I came to 'class' on Wednesday, my only job was to turn in my independent discoveries of the recommended learning material, and receive new assignments. My teacher while I went to school there was Christine Easton, and she was a very welcoming and supportive mentor. While I was there, she encouraged me to learn all I could, and not get stressed out about the grade of others views of my work. She especially encouraged my hard work in English, a subject I've always loved, and even presented challenges to me where I had the opportunity to test myself. The style of attendance is similar to college, and I'm thankful that I had the opportunity to go to DSIS.

Senior: The best thing about Horizon Charter is its flexibility. For example, because most classes are only once or twice a week, students have more free time to pursue hobbies or work. However, this flexibility led to weak academics in some areas. In other words, because students didn't have to attend class everyday, there was less accountability and in some ways less learning. I would recommend Horizon to improve on their academics by adding more lab times and maybe more class sessions to ensure students are receiving a high level of education.

Alum: I loved Stevenson (alum, Class of '15), so this comment should be taken as a critique for improvement rather than a summation of my experience (if it wasn't stellar, I wouldn't mention it).
Stevenson absolutely should (and needs to) do more for increasing its diversity and financial aid. At my time, only <30% of students were on some aid of any sort, and the result is a relatively homogeneous student body. The faculty were tremendously supportive of me (low-income) but the administration wasn't quite there. While I do recognize it's a tricky business being supportive of low-income/otherwise-marginalized students while also making ends meet, it's tremendously important. Stevenson is absolutely capable of making these changes and has an obligation to (beyond "Diversity Week" and guest speakers). If you're reading this and you're involved with Stevenson, it should be your priority to support these goals too!
