The King's Academy
- Private School
- Sunnyvale, CA
Alum: I spent 4 years at The King's Academy and it was amazing. I had caring teachers who were always accessible, small class sizes a very safe campus. One highlight of every year was when over 400 students, faculty and parents got in buses and travelled down to Mexico for 1 week building houses for the poor there. Our school has been doing this for 20 years. King's was more like a family than just an academic institution. It was an awesome and life changing influence for me!

Independent Elementary School
19 Best Public Elementary School Teachers in Alameda County
- Castro Valley Unified School District, CA
Alum: Independent Elementary School was a solid foundation to the start of my education. Granted, I did have a stay-at-home mom that provided a lot of support for my precious public school education, but I also truly place my academic success in the dedication and care that a majority of the teachers had. Let's just say that to this day (keep in mind that I'm a high school senior now), my mom still randomly spurts about how wonderful my kindergarten teacher was, and how important her teaching was to planting that darling seed of education into my life.
I debated giving the school four stars or five stars, and in the end, I still chose five because I believe all the teachers did care to at least 90% capacity.
(And if you're also looking at Jensen Ranch Elementary School, just know that the education is really almost the same. I know an equal amount of highly intelligent (and unintelligent) kids from both Independent and Jensen.

Rosa Parks Environmental Science Magnet
20 Best Public Elementary School Teachers in Alameda County
- Berkeley Unified School District, CA
Works Here: I am a proud after school teacher at Rosa Parks. This is a school community that works together to support students and families in every way possible. Each student is tracked carefully and provided math and reading intervention when needed. Equity and inclusion are a number one priority at Rosa. Gender neutral restrooms, a yearly PRIDE parade, and daily morning school gatherings where we all recite a pledge by Rosa Parks and practice our social/emotional "tool box" make this school an affirmative environment for all. The after school program called Kid's Village offers amazing enrichment classes-from the yoga class with Papa Da to slime making. Kids just don't want to leave at pick up time!

Sage Hill School
- Private School
- Newport Coast, CA
Senior: Sage offers an incredible education to students who really work hard and aim to achieve success. Classes are easy to get into and the teachers are very kind and supportive. Additionally, the wide variety of clubs gives everyone an opportunity to get involved. My absolute favorite thing about Sage is its Spring at Sage program, where, after second semester finals, students are treated to cool seminars or international/domestic trips. Sage does falter in its student culture, as peer pressure is very high, and people tend to focus more on the grade rather than the learning material. All in all, this is an excellent high school you should definitely consider!
