Senior: My four years at DesotoISD have had it's ups and downs. My freshman and sophmore years were exciting and new to me in high school. I had challenging classes that I overcame and managed to make a great GPA. I enjoyed being involved in the male chorus and participating in performances. During my junior year I participated virtually due to the pandemic. The virtual experience was new and different for everyone, but I managed to maintain my grades and I was inducted in to the National Honor Society. This kept me motivated to continue striving to do my best in class no matter how different this experience was not only for me, but all students. Now that I am a senior and back face to face in the classroom, I am getting to know more students and trying to get involved in school organizations. Senior: The High School has been recently renovated so the hallway congestion is much better. It is easy to make it to class if your classes are at opposite ends of the building. Students do not use hallway lockers, everyone carries backpacks. Transferring classes is easy if you follow the procedures. Classroom size is good and overall teachers are high quality and care about their students success. You need to have specific questions to attend tutorials, so that could be better. Parking around the school is tight, there is only one main parking garage and it is mainly for seniors. Security is great and the sucurity guards are friendly. The school trys to promote an all-inclusive atmosphere. There are tons of clubs so everyone at the school can find something to join and be part of a group. AP classes are very challenging. Senior: I've lived in Prosper my whole life and I love their schools. All throughout elementary school I loved it, prosper is a very social school district and has so much going on and you can get involved with anything. Middle school was hard for me, but I had resources available to me during middle school because I was going through a rough patch. I was at 2 high schools during my 4 years in high school. I attended prosper high school during my freshman year and it was an okay experience but it got ruined by the death of my dad and covid-19. I moved to the new high school that opened up in 2021, Rockhill, and I loved it. The staff there is super supportive and always considers students' mental health before just their academic ability. I got involved in student council, and track and field and loved the experience as a whole. Parent: This is one of the best ISDs in the US. Many people move to Argyle every year because of this ISD. Schools provide the perfect environment for students to grow up in and help them know what they want to be when they grow up. The teachers are very determined, the students seem very disciplined and the parents seem motivated in this area. Parent: The faculty truly cares about the students and thier families very community oriented The district is very good at communicating the events at school, the safety of the students and building traditions from K-12 the admin rocked the unexpected closure due to Covid and since has a plan, communication in place for any unexpected changes. Our students are offered dual credit w the local jr college and staff continues to admin its curriculum w the constant change in society. Senior: During my time in Duncanville High School, I was given the opportunity to enter an early college program my sophomore year. Freshman: The best parts about College station is definitely the community and its resources. The Texas A&M community is massive, 70,000 students! With so many of the students being engineering majors as well as 40% of the Corp of Cadets focusing in engineering, there is always someone you can turn to for help and support. Teachers are always open and helpful while also supplying students with after-class office hours to come in and ask questions. Tutoring and counseling is free and many support organizations and call lines are always there to take care of you. Overall, I've had absolutely 0 negative experiences with Texas A&M college station. Sophomore: My overall experince with Alivin Independent School District was great, i went to four schools of the district and my experince at each school was nice at each school there where different oppertunities. Parent: Allen ISD has been such an amazing place for my daughter. All of her teachers have been great. School districts aren’t miracle workers and they need the support from the community in order to thrive. I had great communication with all of her teachers except one. They were quick to squash some unacceptable behavior from my daughter and a couple of her “friends”. What made the difference was that I supported their decision! Junior: My experience at KatyISD has been very rewarding. The high school I go to is very diverse, which feels welcoming towards students of color like me, and there are clubs and opportunities for everyone. Alum: I liked how there were so many ways to get involved, especially with the Ben Barber Innovation Academy. I was a part of the agricultural program and I loved being able to participate in organizations such as FFA. I liked how the district would host district-wide events such as the Multicultural Festival or the very successful Toys for Tots drive. I also liked how individual schools could host their own events such as Theater productions at the Center for Performing Arts. The high schools and middle schools offered many scholarship opportunities, as well as numerous resources for students who were falling behind or needed extra support, ultimately furthering the growth and development of the students attending the schools. One thing that I didn't like about the school district is the sheer amount of people. The classrooms and schools felt overcrowded and made it hard to focus. Junior: When I first moved into this district back in 2019, I didn't know what to expect, but surprisingly enough, the schools I've gone to here have been one of the better parts of my life. There's a wide variety of classes to choose from in the middle school I went to (J. Frank Dobie Jr. High School) and the high school I'm attending now. (Byron P. Steele II High School.) Although the teachers are not always the greatest, most of the teachers I've had have been really kind and welcoming towards me. I also heard the district have their own separate social medias for all fine arts in all of their schools, and I'm mentioning this because I'm in String Orchestra. I think it's a nice touch. I really like how supportive our community is here. There's a whole lot of ways for parents to get involved while their kids are participating in other schools activities as well, which is nice to see. Senior: Overall, my experience at Midway has been great! The majority of my teachers have been absolutely fantastic throughout my education journey, and I truly believe I would not be where I am without them. I have had maybe three teachers out of the fifty total that were truly heinous, but I expect that to be true no matter where you go. If I could change one thing about Midway, I would change the racial diversity of both students and staff. I would guess less than 25% of the students and staff are people of color. This is not an awful statistic, but I feel like the school could benefit being more racially even. The teachers do a wonderful job of making sure students feel comfortable and adequate in their academics, and you can tell they truly want students to succeed. Midway is a wonderful school, and I've had great experiences in my time there. Senior: This school has some of the best teachers that you could find. Many of them actually teach students and help them reach their full potential. They bond with the students on an emotional level and help them become better people. Not only does the school provide many courses, but it also provides many extracurriculars that students can actively participate in, like band, football, tennis, baseball, volleyball, fishing, and golf to name a few.
