Senior: I have attended school in the UUSD since kindergarden and have loved every second of it. My experience at Upland High School was one of the best things ever. It offers a lot of AP and honors classes that have prepared me for college as well as connected my with a lot of my teachers. Just within my senior year I have been gifted with the best teachers ever. I've never had such a good group of teachers who are so supporting and actually interested in their students lives. On the other hand there are some staff members who should not have even been hired and at times seem so uninterested in their job and students. If I could change something at UHS it would probably be the facilities, everything is just a little out of date. Senior: As a senior now I feel like I’ve had amazing memories that will last forever, created by the school. The school environment just aims you want to be at school and continue to learn the curriculum. They are always coming up with fun shows on campus during lunch or the play music to keep us interested. The football games and basketball are always a blast because of how everyone wants to go to them. The teachers and staff are always supportive and helpful when it comes to learning and asking questions. The classmates are also very nice to each other. Sophomore: My overall experience with LAUSD schools has been pleasant. I have attended LAUSD schools since elementary school. In both my elementary and middle/high schools, I have felt enriched by the curriculums and teachers for the most part. The parent involvement in both of my schools has been beneficial to achieving this. Additionally, the atmosphere at both of these schools has been kind, nurturing, and social. My only complaint is that all of the schools I have attended have had sub-par sports and science facilities, and the LAUSD food provided does not seem nutritious or pleasant enough, despite the fact that many students eat it (which is great)!... Senior: Conejo Valley Unified School District focuses on its students and community. It is well known for it's diversity and acceptance of any race, religion, gender orientation. CVUSD keeps all parents informed weather it's by email, phone calls, mailings, and holds open counsel meetings. We approve of the surveys they send out to all students and parents and trust that our voices are being heard and taken into consideration, especially for COVID and most recently the time schedule changes for High School. The last couple of years, it's been great that our schools, with the government's help, provide free breakfast and lunches to all students. I know many friends who benefit from this because their parents couldn't afford to buy lunch for them. Some would bring to school but in lower grades you saw they were teased so that stopped bringing their lunches. I've been a part of this district for twelve years and they truly do their best to accompany all students and their schools. From attending Red Hawk Elementary School, Erle Stanley Gardner Middle School, to Great Oak High School, TVUSD excel excellence in all areas. From listening to the voices of my classmates and recognizing their complaints, the district manages to handle all situations in a respectful and professional manner. Senior: The experience that SVUSD has allowed me and my fellow classmates to have had been outstanding. The staff always makes sure students are doing what they’re supposed to be doing and more importantly making sure we are in a safe environment. Like every other school district there are many rules and/or staff guidelines that make us unhappy and unfortunately I experience some of those rules, but in the end I know that they are doing it to keep us safe and happy. Senior: I have been extremely fortunate to have attended schools within the Bonita Unified School District. The District has a clear vision that was established roughly three years ago of 80/70. Meaning, the District has a goal that all students will reach a minimum of 80% proficiency in English and 70% proficiency in mathematics when taking State exams every spring. Since implementing the 80/70 goal, schools have continued to improve in both categories, ranking our schools in the top 10% in the state of California. Moreover, the Bonita Unified School District has created a reading literacy program that serves as a model for other districts within the nation as it has been ranked #1 in the State! One area that I would like to see the Bonita Unified School District improve is in the area of equity. I joined Segerstrom High School and immediately fell in love with the school. I made friends quickly, teachers showed compassion toward the subjects they taught, and counselors showed genuine interest in helping me plan out my last years in high school. Junior: I've been in this district since I was in kindergarten, and most of the teachers and staff have been very helpful in finding a way to support my academic career. Some of my teachers have kept in touch throughout the years and have greatly impacted my life for the better. As for the curriculum, most teachers covered their subjects very well and prepared us for APs and finals. Senior: Long Beach Unified School District is a great place for students to get a quality education, be surrounded by a diverse population, and become better people. I would not have selected a different school district. However, it is true that there are some issues with the facilities. For example, multiple of the comprehensive schools are performing well but not receiving the funding to improve their school buildings! It is insane to see high school students attending middle school styled campuses due to no renovations, and even stranger that Polytechnic High School has not been renovated since the early 1900s. Parent: I have three kids that are currently enrolled in the NMUSD. My oldest a Senior in high school and youngest in 6the grade. My kids and I have had an amazing experience being apart of this community and school district. My boys both play water polo at their high school and are high achieving students. My experience with the teachers has been awesome. Im also very involved as a parent and have served on multiple foundations throughout my kids schooling.
