Senior: This school has a decent amount of money, so each student has an Ipad and the facilities have been updated to use recent technology. They offer a variety of class options, featuring the arts and stem classes, with more dual credit possibilities each year. The food choices could be expanded. The teachers do a decent job. The administration tries to involve the community in their decisions. The population isn't terribly diverse, and some students are quite entitled or even racist. Overall, however, the school provides a safe environment with minor infractions. The sports programs are fairly strong. The school focuses on making sure students are prepared for college with many AP course offerings and dual credit possibilities. Junior: I am currently a junior in Carmel Catholic High School. I couldn’t have picked a better school. In fact it doesn’t even feel like a school. It feels like a second home. All my friends are there and are very supportive. And not all of them are students! You’re teachers aren’t just teachers, they’re friends! Not only that, but Carmel also has various sports, arts, clubs, activities, resources, and more that have really prepared me for the real world. The best part of Carmel is the community. It’s like a second family to me! Everyone there is so loving and kind. Carmel also pays a lot of attention to the faith of students at Carmel. Although, it has been the year of COVID, the masses we’ve had still continue to feel like family gatherings. Alum: The schedule for the time I was there wasn't very good for the students wellbeing, waking us up at six or earlier every day and then giving us a lot of homework to do in the evening. I've heard that the Schedule has changed to a later date due to some push from the teachers so I was happy to hear that. The teachers had their fair share of good and bad people, but I can note more awesome professors than I can otherwise, so pretty good on those regards. Campus security is pretty much everywhere and that has created a safe environment for students, so props for that. The extracurriculars were plentiful and the ones I were in were very fun and engaging. The cafeteria didn't have many options, but the ones they had were decently good for cafeteria food. I personally liked that they had a study room that you could go eat your lunch in quiet and do your homework so you didn't have to stay up as late doing it. Niche User: Fremont Middle school is the best school i have ever went to. The school has a elementary, intermediate, and a middle school. The teachers are kind, and the students there are very nice. Alum: Westlake Christian Academy is not perfect--no school is, especially small private schools. Sure, they do not have as many AP classes or clubs as a public school, but that's what you would expect from such a small school. What differentiates Westlake is the people. Never have I had such a group of caring teachers or friends around me. Everyone there, student or faculty, truly cares about you and your education. Furthermore, the spiritual formation at the school is incredible. Westlake has helped me grow in my faith significantly, even though I was only there for a few short years. Additionally, there are benefits to going to a smaller school! Camaraderie within classes was wonderful, and even an average athlete can compete on multiple varsity sports teams. Even though it often gets a bad rep, I would hands down fully recommend Westlake to any parents or students looking for a quality education in a Christian environment; you won't find anywhere better!... Senior: I loved every teacher that I had! They were all willing to spend extra time with any student and really pushed all their students to succeed. The behavior of some students was not the best, and there is often a lot of vandalism in the bathrooms. It is a pretty safe school in a nice town. There aren't too many elective classes available compared to other schools which is unfortunate. I would say that this school doesn't have a lot of money, so funding for sports and extracurriculars is pretty low. Overall, there is a great atmosphere in and around this school.... Alum: Eighth grade was my first year in a public school, and I am proud to say that I really enjoyed it. Parent: Our kids have been at Quest for the last two years and we and they have had such a wonderful experience so far! Our kids LOVE going to school everyday because they are being challenged while having fun. The small classroom sizes allow the teachers to differentiate within the classroom. The resources at Quest allow the students to be exposed to much more than they would at a high rated public school. Students as young as three are learning Spanish, there is a virtual reality lab, and technology time. All students take art, music, and drama which provide a well rounded education. We also appreciate the emphasis on character education where students are encouraged and taught to have gratitude, generosity, self discipline, honesty, modesty, respect, patience, responsibility, courage, industry, compassion, and loyalty. Parent: We currently have all three of our children enrolled at Frassati Catholic Academy. The teachers, administration, and staff have been outstanding since we started our journey in 2012. Everyone is very approachable and personable. My husband and I are pleased with the curriculum at all levels, providing the kids with the building blocks to create future habits, including organization skills, teamwork, time management, and excellent study practices. Kids have plenty of options to join both clubs and sports. These options offer the kids additional chances to learn how to work with others while having fun. The Frassati Family Association is a great group of parents that support the schools' mission and offer a variety of fun activities throughout the school year. The events offer families the opportunity to socialize while supporting the school. Parent: We relocated from Germany to IL in 2018. Our 2 boys (preK/K at that time) did not speak English. We toured HFCA and immediately realized that this is a very progressive school that wants to grow the number of international students. HFCA was going above and beyond to make sure the boys are being integrated well. Teachers and staff were so patient and supportive and both felt 'at home' pretty quickly - and so did we. The boys have grown so much socially, academically and spiritually in the last three years. During the pandemic the switch to eLearning happened over the weekend due to the excellent technical equipment and preparations for 'snow days' - and due to the engagement, the passion and the commitment of teachers and staff. For the new school year they were doing an outstanding job to assure a safe return to school - and the concept turned out to be successful. Parent: We were looking for an academically superior Catholic faith based school with a friendly environment that shared our family's values. We found that at Saint Francis de Sales school. The environment is very warm and friendly including both staff and other families. My children are eager to go to school every morning and never late because they are excited to get their- early! Alum: I recommended Immanuel Lutheran School to everyone who wants a quality education and opportunities to learn and grow in Christ. I attended Immanuel from 1995-2005 and am so thankful for my years there. It gave me the tools and skills I needed to be successful in life. The friendships I made during my time at Immanuel are still strong today, after 20+ years. The staff is dedicated to the growth of the minds and hearts of students. I remember some of my favorite memories of Immanuel came from service learning experiences such as the Kindergarten Buddy Program and a mission trip to West Virginia.
