Long Beach High School
#165 Best Public High Schools in New York
- Long Beach City School District, NY
Senior: Throughout my entire four years at Long Beach Polytechnic High School, I have never had a bulling issue. The school is very diverse and the teachers and staff are trustworthy. I can easily confide in any teacher and any faculty. The sports teams are beyond amazing. I was part of Long Beach Poly Cross Country from 2015-2018 and it was a memorable experience. It was not a team but a family. The coaches, Coach Nate and Coach John, were very encouraging and always pushed the athletes further than the athletes thought they can do. It’s my last two months at Long Beach Poly and I still confide in both of these coaches with everything and anything.

Léman Manhattan Preparatory School
- Private School
- New York, NY
- PK, K-12
Works Here: I feel lucky to have found Léman for myself and my daughter after the closing of our beloved k-8 school. Not only is Léman an international school but it strives to grow in inclusivity and diversity, which is important to me as a mom and educator. Besides extremely dedicated teachers and an academic rigorous (but fun) curriculum, my daughter LOVES the rooftop playground for recess, swim class and swim team, the arts, Léman Main Stage productions, athletics and the music program. In a very short amount of time they turned my daughter into a confident reader, writer, scientist, swimmer and performer in theatre and band! Must also say...the food is amazing!

Lawrence Senior High School
#220 Best Public High Schools in New York
- Lawrence Union Free School District, NY
Senior: I transferred in as a senior, but here's my honey review:
I love how diverse the school is! The school has 3 floors that are easy to navigate after a week or two and eight 47 minute periods per school day. It's bully-free in my experience, and the people are quite friendly if your usual crowd is the smartest people in the school. Honors and AP classes are abundant in this magnet school, but they don't let their students skip grades or graduate early...
I'd say more, but there is a character limit.
There are no substitute teachers for juniors or seniors; if your teacher is absent, you get a "free period." I'm mentioning this because I moved from Horseeheads High School to Lawrence, and it shocked me. Also, students swear at and disrepsect their teachers in many of the non-honor level classes.
