Parent: Deerfield is a finely tuned machine with 225 years of practice educating some of the best CEOs, politicians and educators in the US. They have hands down the best facilities, teachers and admin and support staff you can find. The course rigor is off the charts, the teachers are engaged and love their students. The admin including college advisors and health professionals deeply care about both mental, emotional and physical well being of their students. The coaching staff is par excellent. Your child will never be bored. All school breaks have optional trips so you can be productive even as an an Int'l student that doesn't get to visit your family often. Some say the food is great, I think it's better than college dining hall food. During the COVID-19 pandemic, D.A. managed the crisis like world class health professionals. Like all boarding schools, there is always a little room for improvement. I would recommend more DEIA training and more $$$$$ support for the ARTS.... Read 59 reviews

Alum: My cousins and sister attended Northfield Mount Hermon. Visiting them and hearing about their experiences, I'd dreamed of attending the school myself. When I was admitted, I was thrilled! The four years I spent at NMH were everything I hoped for and more. Academically, I was challenged and rewarded. Socially, I was awakened and embraced. Personally, I was impacted forever. The friends I made here are the deepest I have, almost 20 years later. I am eternally grateful that I was able to spend such formative years at such an incredible institution. If you are seeking a school that is constantly striving to do better and expects the same of their community, this is a place for you.... Read 135 reviews

Parent: We couldn't be more pleased with the experience our children are having at DCD. They are intellectually stimulated and the curriculum keeps them curious. They are learning what it means to be part of a team, whether that's through athletics or working with partners in class. They are pushed when they need to be challenged and supported when the challenge is great. They know what it means to be part of a community--and our whole family feels tied to that community. The teachers truly know the students here, and the sense of fun, energy and kindness is palpable the moment you enter campus. At DCD, the kids spend lots of time outside and doing hands-on learning; they have broad access to the arts. This school is committed to community service and public speaking; they champion kindness and curiosity, and they help students find their own way through disputes. I can't say enough good things about this school--it has truly been a gift for our family!... Read 15 reviews

Senior: Like every school, there are ups and downs. I think that a good amount of the teachers are quite amazing and do get along with the students whether it be making their room a safe place for them or just getting along. There are a lot of great opportunities and activities for the students to partake in such as clubs and sports, most of those groups are very accepting of other people. For me, it was the wrestling program that was amazing. The coaches are amazing people. the team was very close with one another, no matter the gender. It was truly amazing. I would like for other students to stop vandalizing the bathrooms. Some students find it amusing but I don't when all but 1 set of bathrooms get shut down. I also wish the younger students weren't as anti-LGBTQ as they were. There have been a large number of slurs and horrible comments written and told to people of that group which I find to be unfair and cruel. I don't care if you don't like them, just keep away from them at that point!... Read 36 reviews

Senior: I like how small the school is and how close knit the community is. last year we had to change our mascot, the indians, because people found it offensive but the students strongly disagreed. we thought we were honoring the native americans and we fought to keep it. we conducted a walk out and walked to the elementary school where the administration was. we let our voices be heard and stated our opinions. the administration basically said that it doesn’t matter what we think because the were already taking it away. now we do not have a mascot because no one has made a new one. i think that tfhs is very slow at getting things done. i am very disappointed to be graduating without a mascot, but at heart i am still graduating an indian!... Parent: Highly recommend! Bement is the right school to international families that want to send their young children to a faraway country. Bement has innumerable merits. Competent teachers, freimily peers, organic foods, idyllic scenery, systematic curriculum, advanced math class open, immediate communication between parents and teachers, pick-up and drop-off at the airport by Bement teachers (How relieved!) etc. Bement fulfilled my two expectations academically and emotionally. My son would say, “All the teachers are like an encyclopedia.” I also remember how energetically school nurse, dorm parents, dorm administrator, and school doctor communicated with me and set out actively to cure my son when my son’s collarbone was broken. Even though I couldn't go to US in this Corona situation, all the teachers took him to three orthopedics and connected doctors with me by video call. The close cooperation with parents makes me trust and love Bement. I respect all the teachers!... Read 17 reviews

Parent: Both our sons have attended EBS, and it has been an outstanding experience. The staff care. The teachers are well trained. The academics are thoughtful and evolving. Our boys developed a great friendship in this nurturing atmosphere combining dorm life, sports, activities, and the classroom. The hillside setting is beautiful. The facilities are modern, well maintained, and the new science and arts building is a stunning example of form and function blended seamlessly into a wooded backdrop. Few 6-9 schools can rival Eaglebrook's overall experience.... Read 7 reviews

Works Here: I love working at Four Winds School. As a teacher, it's so wonderful to have an opportunity to make deep, years-long connections with my students, and to know that they are truly in an environment where they can learn and grow at their own level and pace. Unlike when I taught in a traditional public school setting, I can honestly say that each and every student learns every single day, which is extremely heartening to me as an educator. If I had children, I would absolutely send them to Four Winds School because I know they would not only receive an excellent education, but that they would be supported socially and emotionally. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions about our small school!... Read 5 reviews

Parent: My kids have been attending Basis since before the pandemic, and we are so impressed! Rich academic curriculum, good inclusion of the arts, excellent opportunity for differentiation based on student needs. The teachers are dedicated and so are the parents to the kids' success. While the administration has been bumpy as the school has gotten established (only 5 years old), they earned their stripes during the pandemic. Organized, safety-focused and diligent about communication. We supplement school with sports leagues and scouting outside of school, which many parents do. Easy to do given the extensive choice you have in the DC area. Also appreciate the international study body with impressively bright students from all over the world. A real meritocracy, unlike other private schools that admit based on VIP status or connections/donations. In the next few years, this school will only continue to advance its place in the rankings.... Read 46 reviews

Parent: My husband and I wanted an inclusive school that would be an extension of our family, and we found that in the Burgundy Community. We made the decision to send my son to Burgundy in JK and looking back now as he is in the midst of 2nd grade, choosing Burgundy was the best decision. Burgundy is a nurturing community that fosters the whole child, ensuring life long learners. Burgundy leans into a child's individual character and ensures every child is heard and has a voice. My son loves Burgundy and is thriving. I know without a doubt that Burgundy will lay the foundation for my son's continued success, not only in his future academic pursuits, but in life as a whole!... Read 10 reviews
