Junior: Moving from notes and test learning to project and work based learning was challenging. Although this was a challenge, I am glad they encourage it entering middle school so you are not adjusting late. I enjoy the projects we do often and how they show what we learned in the classroom. Of course we still have test and quizzes for the required class, but being able to show physically what we learned helps me understand because I can apply it While their motto is "Accepting Culture for Everyone" the environment does not always show that. Simple things make me feel as if we are little kids. We don't have fun weeks, big homecomings, prom or big events. If they do put them on its not interactive or fun and no many people attend. I thought this would be a good change for me especially making the decision in elementary school but I do not feel that way anymore. Junior: Our school is based around hands on and experience based learning. Our school is 7-12 and we are fed by 20 different schools. Since we are fed by so many different schools, we do not have traditional sports, hence why the sports rating is "N/A". From the time that we first come to GISA, we are immediately immersed into hands on based learning. Through different class such as agricultural immersion, food science, animal management, agricultural business, etc etc, we offer our students the chance to have real life experiences. We are also an early college school, meaning that during your sophomore year you begin to take college english through professors that our school brings on campus for us. Throughout your junior and senior year, you get to pick classes that you want to take through Clark State College. Senior: Christian Fellowship School is a small private school in Marshall County, Kentucky full of God-loving students and staff. The school holds around 300 students from pre-K to 12th grade. It consists of praise and worship to God and close, lifelong friends. The staff is very encouraging, friendly, and easy to create a special bond with. The chapel is held every Tuesday which includes a full service for everyone to just worship and sing to God. The school holds so many fun events every year such as the Fall Festival with games and prizes, Eagle Fest with competitive water games in teams, a competitive Fall party scavenger hunt with a prize for the winner, and of course, random class field trips to Mcdonalds every once in a while. I am an athlete in three sports with all of my friends because of how small the school is. The bond I have with my friends is created by all of us doing sports together. Parent: Legacy has been the greatest blessing to our family! My greatest prayer when my kids started at Legacy was that my kids would be well cared for. My prayer has been answered abundantly! We have kids that are in Jr. High and their only complaint is that they didn't start at the school when they were in 1st grade! My son had a hard time adjusting to school after coming from homeschool. The teachers were AMAZING! They worked with him, encouraged him, and pushed him to do more than he thought he could. He is doing SO well now! It has been life transforming! One day at drop off, I saw my son's math teacher in the hall. She came up and gave me the biggest hug (this was before covid😊) and told me she was praying for me. I appreciate that the administrators, staff, and teachers don't claim to be perfect, but challenge us all to work together, to prefer others to talk through things instead of walking away in anger. Senior: I'm going to be a senior in the fall and I've been going here since I was in Pre-K. This school is a great place to grow. The teachers and student leaders helped me to become my best self. Though it has its downfalls, I'm glad this is the school I when to. It's diverse, accepting, and has generally kind students and teachers. The regulations and administrative decisions can be kinda a turn-away sometimes. Hopefully, they realize to prioritize what benefits the students and teachers, not just their prestige.... Senior: My overall experience at Yellow Springs McKinney/High School Is I would say an overall pretty positive one. I've gone to Yellow Springs schools since I was in the first grade and now I am an upcoming senior in high school. I've created a lot of good relationships with the people at my school including the teachers and my coaches. When I graduate I am going to for sure miss all of them. The experience that you have at Yellow Springs schools is a very welcoming experience no matter who you are or what you believe in you're always welcome at Yellow Springs High School. I feel that my school is a very positive place and they do their best to include people and have respect for people. Parent: Ridgewood School is an absolutely wonderful place to learn! My son attended Ridgewood School and my daughter is currently a first grade student there. Students benefit from smaller class sizes and individualized attention and instruction. Ridgewood sets high academic standards and then teachers and staff work to help students achieve these high standards. The caring teachers are constantly assessing the needs of students and tailoring instruction to meet those needs. Ridgewood School brought out the best in my children. When my son came to Ridgewood, he was a reluctant writer. Within a few months, he was asking to stay after school for a Writing Club. My daughter loves going to school! She is enthusiastic and eager to learn. This interest in learning and discovery will help my children to be lifelong learners. Sophomore: The things I like best about Wright State University is that I like how clean and organized the campus is, I like the events they host on campus and the diversity of the people on campus, and most of the teachers teach efficiently whether online or in person. Parent: My sons have both attended St. Helen school. The administration and teachers are both caring and committed to the students. The class size allows for students to ask questions and received extra help when needed. The restorative discipline approach has made a huge difference in the environment of the school. My sons were very well prepared for the experience at Carroll High School and accredit the teachers at St. Helen to making sure they were ready for the rigors of the classes, many Advanced Placement. Both of my sons participated in sports and extra curricular clubs and enjoyed them very much. Friends they made while at St. Helen are still friends they have today.
