Alum: I am a recent graduate from the Academy of the Holy Family. I stepped foot on campus freshman year with a closed heart, wishing to go back home asap. However, in May of 2022, I walked the stage and received my diploma, knowing that I will miss everything about the school. AHF helped me to break out of my shell, taught me to be a leader and step up, exposed me many different cultures as our school is very diverse, allowed me to uniquely love the individuals around me, and most importantly, brought a revival in my faith. I was able to be involved in my extracurricular activities which helped me to see my interests and strengths. I enjoyed dorm life in the upperclassmen dorm very much. We would have homemade Sunday dinners altogether, weekend trips, and game/movie nights with one another. Dorm life helped prepare me for life away from home in college. Middle School Student: I am an 8th grader at capt. Nathan hale middle school, and overall my experience here has been fantastic. It is a little small so it's very nice that everyone knows each other; at least the kids that are in your own grade. Senior: I transferred here after my sophomore year and I genuinely think it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I’ve always wanted to do theatre professionally, so being able to immerse myself in the arts has been so beneficial. I love that we can take classes outside of our major. My biggest issue is how problems are handled. My friends and I have been the target of harassment and cyberbullying, and not much has been done about it, as far as I can tell. Alum: I graduated from Windham High School in 2018. This school gave me the opportunity to take a variety of early college experience and AP classes and come into college with 26 credits, something much harder to do at High Schools like E.O. Smith. The culture of the school is very involved and big on athletics. The Parent community in Windham is outstanding and extremely supportive. They work very closely with teachers to make sure that no Windham kids fall between the cracks and stay on a positive course. Middle School Student: Charles H. Barrows is a very good school overall but needs a little more things to fix. I have been in this school from 5-8th grade and I am currently in my last year of middle school. I share lots of memory's there and I would always remember the school for the rest of my life. But there is only a few criticism I would give to the school and that would have to be their lunch system. It does not provide enough nutrition for their students, and the food itself is not very good. I do appreciate the workers who work there to serve the school community I just don't like the system. I would also criticize the little amount of physical education they provide . Each week that I have been in middle school the amount of time given for physical education was very, very limited. Senior: My experience at Windham Technical High school was a good experience. Not only does the school offer different career paths and work like experiences, the school provides assistance for those in need. Freshman: Attending UConn as a rising freshman has been an experience. I haven’t started school yet, but I can already tell this is a place I can start to call home.
