Alum: I loved the community focus! I was way too self-conscious and anxious in public school. In just a few months at Buxton, I made more meaningful friendships than I had been able to in years in NY public school. The teachers were incredably understanding and supportive despite my severe depression too. When I came back my second year, being able to welcome new students and really feel like I had a role in the community, and even being openly appreciated for it, changed my life. By the time I was a senior, I was asking if I could stay for a fifth year. Instead, my college advisor helped me get into a great college. It was tough transitioning into college at first, but I ended up doing well. I even liked it so much that I went back to the same college for a master's degree afterwards! I am endlessly grateful for the patience and care that I was given at Buxton. I have stayed close with many of my friends from high school, and will continue to for the rest of my life.

Senior: The academics at Mount Greylock have an extremely good reputation. This is in many cases is very accurate. Many teachers care a lot about their students. However, there are a few departments where it is either very strong or quite hit or miss. The math department is by far the strongest. The English and History departments are very hit or miss. The science, however, is quite a week link. The social aspect is very hyper-political and not always tolerant of other people's opinions. With that said I have also met some of my best friends here.
