Senior: IMSA is a fantastic school for students who want to take their education to the next level. The diversity and academics are excellent, and the shared culture between the students is incredible. That being said, the high workload causes many students to encounter mental health challenges. Lack of proper nutrition, hygiene, and sleep are more common at this high school than at others. Most students get an average of 3-4 hours of homework per day, which can be difficult to balance with mental health, clubs, and other commitments. There is a club for practically every interest a student could have, and there is always something to do on campus. The residential environment allows for deeper connections with peers and establishes lifelong relationships. The biggest issue at IMSA is the administration, which routinely makes questionable decisions that clearly do not consider student input. Parent: My children are currently the third generation to attend Glenbard West High School. This is not unusual, because families move to and stay in the community for the school. It is an amazing school with top notch and caring teachers, a dedicated administration and a high maintenance parent community. They continually exceed expectations and when they don't, the school addresses concerns to improve. When graduates attend college, they often reference that they were well prepared and were able to thrive in their higher education environment. Parent: NCA has been utterly transformative in the lives of our children. Three of our children are NCA graduates and two more are on their ways. This is a place where our children have been loved, nurtured, guided, and also challenged. Senior: Wheaton North is an amazing school with a welcoming environment where students can make new friends. It is almost impossible to go through our school without leaving with new friends or talking to new people. Our school also offers a wide variety of clubs and many opportunities to help students find their passions and interests. In addition, the teachers are truly supportive of their students. Throughout my years at Wheaton North so far, I constantly see the teachers going above and beyond to make class engaging, but also informative, for students. The only negative side I could think of is, unfortunately, the fights that have broken out before. However, the number of fights range from few to none per year. Alum: I loved attending Wheaton Warrenville High School! I made the most of the 4 years I attended, even though it was challenging at times because of Covid. I was in Show Choir for all 4 years which strengthened my connections both in and out of high school. I worked hard in all my classes and took part in many extracurricular activities. Parent: As a new Freshman parent I've been continually impressed with each interaction with St. Francis. The onboarding process is organized and informative, not only for the Freshman students, but the parents as well. All of the junior high events they offer students and parents to learn about what St. Francis offers are exceptional. The parent information session was a game changer. Hearing from staff AND students was great. Hearing about all of the great elective classes that neighboring Catholic High Schools do NOT offer, was also an eye opener. The feeling you get when you arrive at St. Francis is awesome. The community feeling is contagious. Everyone is happy. Father John is such an incredible asset to the school! The academics are challenging which is what we want! The athletics and coaching are top notch and we can't wait to switch back to the Chicago Catholic League next year as St. Francis continually outperforms its current competition. Senior: My personal experience with Nazareth Academy is nothing but great. Nazareth has taught me so much, academically and spiritually. When I say academically and spiritually, I mean I have learned so much about myself and about life. I have come in contact with many teachers and they all have been wonderful. I have not experienced any negativity from any of the teachers. They have pushed me in doing the best that I can in school. I have great relationships with my teachers and I can honestly say that Nazareth Academy is a wonderful school. Parent: Absolutely the best school. The academics are amazing. The lead program is amazing as well as the ROTC . Boys are made into men. My son knew he needed to be there to get into Harvard with his grades and Varsity wrestling for 4 years. The school is very classy and the teachers and staff is very welcoming. I would think the only thing that was not liked was having to keep my hair short. Besides that we wouldn’t change a thing!! I’m very grateful to my father for sacrificing all these years, now my 2 other brothers are going there and it will be very hard financially because the school is very expensive. Senior: I'm new to Glenbard South, but I love the school. There are tons of helpful resources and they're all available to students and families at no cost. My previous school was a private Catholic school and tutoring and things like ACT/SAT prep classes had to be paid for. Glenbard South is a public school, but it's not too big and still has a small school feel. Everyone knows everyone and the staff really pushes for each student to be successful. I also like the selection of courses. This year I'm taking General Woodworking and learning valuable skills in addition to the traditional courses that I take like math, science, and English. Senior: The school is very good in their education. I really feel as though I learn topics, in classes I’m interested in, anyways. The best parts were being able to communicate with my teachers about confusing topics and them being understanding about requests for extra time during assignments due to various personal reasons. However, there were things I didn’t like: how strict the school was about the way we dress in our uniforms, the fact that every school event (homecoming/prom) was just as regulated, and how our personalities couldn’t always be expressed (specifically boys with their hair, earrings, etc)....
