Parent: From the first time we visited Allendale Columbia School we have been greeted with smiles and warm welcomes from the energetic faculty. The admissions team, front secretary, and early school teachers knew my children by name following our first visit. After considering several options, Allendale was an obvious choice for us and we couldn't be happier! Our two children come home from Nursery and Pre-K with so much to share. They're greeting us in Spanish, telling us about instruments they've played or are interested in, Science experiments they've done, and projects they're working on. Their teachers communicate with parents daily through photos and/or classroom updates. My children love their school and I love that their days are enriching as they're being prepared for the world they will inherit...Read 88 Reviews

Junior: This school has a beautiful campus, no matter when you join you will be more then ready to begin college shortly after graduation. There are a few minor things that bother me personally about the academics, the expectations are insanely high and difficult to keep up with but that is also the idea of college prep. The teachers are so understanding and show that they genuinely care for the students and making sure they get all of the education needed in order to graduate...Read 33 Reviews

Parent: New Amsterdam School has been a true haven for our two daughters for the past 7 years, from nursery through grade 3. The utmost care, warmth, thoughtfulness and dedication of the teachers and staff can’t be overstated. The curriculum for the early grades classes includes two foreign languages, learning to play a musical instrument, plenty of outside time in a gorgeous huge community garden, as well as rigorous and innovative ways of teaching the academic subjects . The class groups are small so that each child receives careful attention and the curriculum can easily be adjusted to meet every child’s needs. The premises are beautiful, with all natural materials for kindergarten toys and school furniture, inviting the children into a home like atmosphere. The school is a true gem!...Read 9 Reviews

Freshman: I genuinely have loved every second being at Mercy, and sending your daughter here is definitely a gift everyone deserves. I will say though if your daughter doesn’t have great grades in your typical public school, she might not excel here. As someone who had all grades above a 98% at public school, now I average around a 90%. Although the school is very challenging, I feel like I learn a lot more being given more homework, and getting good grades feels much more rewarding. The people are genuinely so sweet - staff and students, and they are all very welcoming. The teachers are very qualified and they are really helpful when you advocate for yourself and ask. In general Mercy pushes for your daughter to grow more independent and be able to go out and conquer challenging tasks on her own, and they really do it amazingly. Overall I would definitely recommend this school!...Read 187 Reviews

Junior: I absolutely love this school! The diversity here is incredible. As an LGBT student, I can look around and feel at home because I see people unafraid to [and being allowed to] express themselves freely. There are rainbow gay-straight alliance stickers on each door and a massive art piece for LGBT pride in the hallway. There is also such a great mix of cultures and ethnicities, which is very comforting to see. I will say, however, that I wish we spent more of our money on things we truly need, like central air conditioning & heating. We do spend lots of money on resources for students, and we just approved a plan to use the money for new roads to improve traffic in the parking lot (because right now it is truly a trainwreck), but in that same plan is also improving the sports fields, which don't need improving, in my opinion. So I love my school, but there are definitely things I want to see changed...Read 219 Reviews

Parent: I'm a graduate of Lima Christian School and now a parent of current students. I know many of the staff and faculty personally and have witnessed, over and over again, their care and attentiveness to the needs of the students. As a parent, the academic rigor for students satisfies our desire that our children will be greatly challenged and equipped for college and beyond. The spiritual environment is also a huge positive for our kids and has impacted our family positively. It is not unusual for our kids to come home from school and start a conversation around the dinner table about topics they discussed in a Bible class or heard about in a chapel message. We are deeply thankful for the commitment of the school's leadership to instill a Christian worldview in the student body and prepare them for navigating a world that often challenges and undermines the faith, hope, and love of biblical faith...Read 36 Reviews

Senior: I like that it is a small town school that is able to give us a much more personalized learning experience. It also has a fairly good sports complex and many extra curricular activities that keep us students on our toes. The teachers are very nice and the student body has great school spirit, however, some of the clubs either are not getting noticed or are not receiving enough funds to fully operate which is dragging down some of the hopes/dreams of a handful of students. Overall it is a great school with great people...Read 62 Reviews

Parent: My son is in 1st grade at Success Academy Hudson yards. The academics are exceptional, I never have to worry if my son is learning enough or being challenged. In a time when many children have fallen behind because of the pandemic, SA has risen up. One of its greatest attributes is the relationship I have with my child's teachers. I am able to text and call my son's teacher at the ready and that partnership has a direct impact on his education. My son is happy, loves his teachers, and is excelling beyond what I could have expected. On top of exceptional academics, they have a wonderful loving community and always find a way to bring fun into the classroom through special holiday celebrations, games, and activities. I know being at SA is giving my child the absolute BEST education in New York City...Read 1 Review

Parent: My son is in third grade at St. Bart's. We moved from an independent Catholic school and the change in his self-confidence was obvious right away. Class size is small, my son has a homeroom teacher and additional teachers for Spanish, Music, PE, library and computer lab. Although we don't need extra help in the classroom, I know resources are available for kids who have different challenges. Extracurriculars are provided through CYO or private companies and include chess, sports, science, robotics. The school body is small and teachers know all the kids by name. Recess is well supervised, and aftercare is fun. Hot lunch is catered and the caterer offers reasonably balanced meals. Uniform is easy, no jacket for the little guys in lower school! We'd love to see more after school activities being offered to the kids...Read 28 Reviews
