Alum: I attended Houston Academy in middle and high school. The teachers at this school were incredibly supportive and helpful, and the school offered a wide variety of classes and extracurriculars. I liked that the classes were small and that I knew or at least recognized everyone in the upper school. The academic standards at HA taught me a lot about time management and critical thinking, which really prepared me for the demands of the majors I chose in college. I also really enjoyed the extracurriculars I was involved in and the opportunities for trips that the school provided. Sometimes I did have trouble navigating social dynamics there, but overall I had a positive experience at HA and I'm glad that I took the opportunity to attend.... Read 111 reviews

Senior: I enjoyed the tight knit sense of community culture prevalent at Providence. I wish they had more student involvement inside the classroom, and I wish the administration was less strict. However, I always felt like the teachers and faculty were invested in the students and tried to cultivate an environment where we could thrive. We encountered many great works of literature and were exposed to more difficult concepts at earlier ages than many around us. I never felt afraid to speak my mind and offer alternative viewpoints. The chief temptation of religious schools is to try and become a shelter and shield students from the marketplace of ideas. I've always felt that Providence avoided this pitfall and purposely exposed us to differing ideals and tried to demonstrate how to understand your own believes instead of extinguishing the beliefs of others.... Parent: Our son started at Holy Trinity last year during the Pandemic and the school just became our family. Through all sorts of ups and downs, they were incredibly supportive. They addressed the pandemic with thoughtfulness and resourcefulness. We feel fully engaged in the amazing community. The other parents have become great new friends. The administration and teachers are very welcoming and accommodating. The classwork has been so creative and fun for our now Kindergartener. He loves coming to school everyday and has formed great bonds with his classmates. There's great aftercare. We can't wait for our other children to join him.... Read 4 reviews

Senior: I entered Northside Methodist Academy in the 7th grade from public school. I found the smaller classrooms and student-teacher ratio heled me tremendously academically. The spiritual connection and leadership has helped prepare me to enter into college with confidence and direction. The instructors and administrators want each student to be the best version of themselves that they can be. From early morning public pledge and prayer, to bible classes, and weekly chapel time, my relationship with Christ has grown. Not only does the school care about my spiritual health, but my physical also. I was able to participate in varsity athletics in track and field, wrestling, and football. The strict code of academic excellence was expected to be maintained in order to participate in these sports activities. This in turn held me accountable to my academic performance and also my team mates and friends. I feel like my foundation in life was established at Northside Methodist Academy.... Read 29 reviews

Senior: I love my school genuinely it’s great to be there and enjoy the country side feel of our school! It’s very welcoming to any new comers and it makes you feel at home! Our science and technology department is great, most of our faculty members are like second parents to us and that’s very great and reassuring. Being at Ashford is one of the fondest memories I will have of my teen life! Being there for most of my life I might be a little bias to the school, but it all comes with honesty to how I describe my great school! If anyone ever gets the chance to find themselves in Houston County Alabama visiting Ashford would be a great choice to make. I recommend it to any students moving from the north to the south and looking for a warming school with no cliques, or popularity contests. Being an Ashford Jacket is great! - Senior 2020... Works Here: Bullis is amazing! I am so impressed with the curriculum. Teachers challenge students academically, yet they incorporate a joyful hands-on learning experience. The enriching opportunities are endless in academics, arts, athletics, and service, which provides a well-rounded education and cultivates respect for others, confidence, and the joy of discovery. Faculty, students, and parents are incredibly welcoming and friendly. I grew up in the DC area and assumed a different experience. However, the modern-day folklore that lingers — nothing could be further from the truth! Everyone I've met is genuinely kind, caring, and helpful. I am thrilled to be a part of the Bullis community.... Read 112 reviews
