Alum: I really appreciated St. Paul's motto, "freedom with responsibility." It gave me the opportunity to build my own life and curriculum as a student, and expected that I take accountability for my actions. The teachers and residential advisers all live on campus, often attached to dormitories to make sure students are safe. They provided guidance, and also a safety-net in case students were struggling. SPS gave me the opportunity to make the most of my high-school experience, and you get out of the school as much as you put in. Parent: As a graduate of Bishop Brady, I was thrilled that my son wanted to apply for enrollment there. It was halfway through his freshman year at a local public school. He knew that he was not getting the education that he so clearly wanted, so he asked for a change. Although we didn't initially want to spend the money on high school, it was the greatest decision that we would have made as a family. He has thrived under the direction of the faculty and staff. Not only did he become a better student, he became a better person. My son was able to join several of the athletic teams, including football. He had never played a day of it in his life, but found success with the coaching staff and the supportive nature of the fellow athletes. He ended up being a two time Second Team All State Defensive player. Opportunities do not end there. Junior: Trinity Christian school is a great school that offers a great education and a great sense of involvement. There are under 300 students in the school (K-12) which is nice. Trinity offers a great faith aspect that others schools often do not offer. Their slogan is to teach us spiritually, academically, and socially. They do a great job giving us who God is and His importance. Academics are good, but they can be improved. They offer the core classes but the ones that are not required they often neglect: Calculus and Physics. I was upset about this, but they offer college classes that we can take to substitute what they are lacking. Overall the teachers are great, and due to such a small class, you are never neglected or left out. They do offer some extracurriculars, but it is a small school that does not offer many. Parent: Love all that my son has learned and accomplished being a student Polaris. This school is absolutely worth visiting and meeting with the administrator. The students are very much the heart of this school. My son loves his teacher and she is wonderful with communication when needed . His teacher is also very informative regarding my sons progress in her class . I don’t get one sentence answers. I get full page well thought out responses from her . I appreciate that extra time she puts in to make sure my son is getting what he needs and I am given all the information needed to assist my child . I highly recommend this school . Parent: Very pleased with this school! I've only ever had amazing interactions with the staff and my little one loves it there. If you're considering enrolling your child there and have any doubts I encourage visiting and interacting with the staff to get a better feel for it, it will put your kind at ease if you're having any doubts! Parent: My child has attended The Beech Hill School from 6th-8th grade, and I only regret that we didn't begin in 5th grade. The faculty is wonderful, and they have built such a positive community that really transforms middle school into a supportive place. Amazing! The Foundations of Community are emphasized all the time, and kids really know what's expected of them and how they can be good citizens. By providing a healthy emotional environment, it opens up the students to make academic progress and see connections. The emphasis seems to be on becoming insightful thinkers and developing fundamental academic skills (math, writing, lab reports, close reading, etc) with virtually no busy work. Assignments are meaningful and progressive. My child found the school difficult at first but over the years has developed the skills and habits to easily manage the workload, and is now ready for the next step at a challenging prep school.... Parent: The Mount has potential to be a true hidden jewel. Over the years, they have had amazing principals and Board who are knowledgeable and truly care for the students. They offer a variety of after school programs such as tennis club, soccer, science club, and more. The whole school even goes down hill skiing together in the winter. The only sport is basketball. Spanish starts in the three year old program. The students are truly sweet children. The downside is that the teachers are constantly not getting along and backstabbing one another. Parent participation is great, but Parent over-involvement to the point of wanting complete control is out of hand with certain clicks.... Read 1 review
