Parent: The staff is so caring and personable! They truly care about their students as a whole, not just how they do academically. During these trying times with distance learning, teachers set time aside to help those that are falling behind when they are trying to learn under difficult circumstances. They set office hours to check in with students not only academically, but how they are doing emotionally and mentally. It is in these times , that the teachers have really shown through their truly amazing character and love for their students. Sophomore: I went there for 5th grade. I love the smell of the new buildings and had an awesome time there. The teachers are nice and caring. This is a glitch. Parent: My son actually attends Tilden Prep Walnut Creek, but I didn’t see that as an option. The teachers and staff have been absolutely amazing. The teachers are excellent academically and willing to connect on a personal level with their students. This is especially important to kids who have school related trauma. Alum: I attended Salesian College Preparatory only in my senior year and it was amid the pandemic. My previous school was closed due to lack of funds. To not compare with the old school, Salesian is one of the largest private high schools in Richmond, California. Classrooms are new, huge and well-equipped. Teachers to me are extremely helpful and well-prepared before each lesson/lecture. The whole year was remote but I was able to use provided resources to fulfill homework and extracurriculars. Parent: St. Patrick-St. Vincent is an amazing place to be! I like the school because it has a close community, a college-prep environment, friendly faculties and staffs that encourage your student to be involved. The school also has an Augmented Reality Sandbox, which is a great tool for my kid who is interested in geology. And my kid also participates in the instrument class to develop his interest. Parent: Quality Christian education and unwavering commitment to students. We enrolled our three children (9th, 7th and 4th grades) to PHAA for the 2021-2022 school year. After six months we were so impressed with the dedication of the teachers and administrators, that we immediately re-enrolled. PHAA nurtures the spirit of each child and focuses on building character, while keeping academic standards high. I want to clarify that we are not members of the Seventh Day Adventist church; however, we have always been treated like family. The educational value our children receive far outweighs the tuition expense. We highly recommend this school to all Christian families. Senior: I've been here for a few years and I have to say that personally my experience here has been great. I've made some friends and gotten closer with some people over these past few years and have even made and strengthened connections and reconnected with some amazing people that I feel I'll be around for hopefully the rest of our lives, and I love and care for them so much. I've been able to trust some of the teachers here more than my own parents and I feel like my voice matters. Being here makes me feel safe emotionally and physically and I've learned things here that I'll carry on with me for a really long time, and a lot more than just academically. Of course its not at all perfect, but I feel like we're slowly improving, and with time I think we'll get to a way better place to be. Freshman: Not only am I apart of Angelo Rodriguez High School but I'm proud to also be apart of their separate early college program. Although school isn't on direct mustang territory, considering I'm mainly on the Solano Community College's campus, my experience with school held events by Rodriguez are marvelous. They bring the two schools together and it's as if there was no separation in schools. The teachers are tremendously patient when teaching students and are considerate of students needs. As for the community of students here at ECHS (Early College High School) they're very accepting and everyone eventually gets to know each other it seems! ECHS's environment as a whole is so comforting, like a family, which really makes you feel apart of the program. Additionally, the school provides so many opportunities to seek help whether it's with school work or counseling; looking for community service; helping obtain scholarships like these, and so much more! Senior: North Hills has taught me everything I know. I have been there since first grade and now I am a senior. Freshman: This school is one of the best in the FSUSD district. My best memories and experiences were made here and they have many resources. Most students are excited about entering middle school because of the changes from elementary, this school truly gives you the authentic middle school experience. They have a snack bar for instance, and classes that you have to walk to! Pretty exciting! The classes are fun and challenging, also, ELECTIVES!!! Lunch time is also fairly lenient, you can eat anywhere on campus! I promise you, you won't be disappointed going to Green Valley Middle School! Works Here: This school has had major challenges over the last few years, including issues with their buildings and facilities; however, the new administrative team is skilled, caring, and responsive. The school is much safer and has a much more positive environment than most Vallejo schools. This year, they have repaired all their current buildings, and have plans to build all new buildings over the next 2 years. The staff cares a ton about the students. The school facilitates enrollment in college classes so that students can earn college credit while they are still in high school. The school also pays for the first college application to a university for all seniors. The class sizes are small, and staff know the students well. Sophomore: Because of the small class sizes the teachers really help any student indivisually who needs help. Although the small class sizes allows for one on one between the teacher and student, I still would like more students. I feel like I'm missing out on the high school experience because there are only 30 kids in the whole high school. I also think they should step up their lunch, pizza twice a week, corndogs, bagels and soggy burritos gets old after awhile. Junior: What I like about my school is that everyone is so understanding and courageous. I love how my school has so many connections to so many things. If we as students have something that we would like to change or something fun that we would like to do for our school the school administrators are so nice and listen to every single thing that we say. Something I would like to change about my school is the lighting in our classrooms. I think that learning should be something you would want to do in a nice a quiet peaceful place not a bright room. I think that putting more sun generated lamps in classrooms would be nice for students at my school and also for teachers. White lights to me raise stress levels and they are very hard to work in especially if you work on a computer in school too. Alum: I really enjoyed my experience at Making Waves Academy. I attended the school from the 5th - 12th grade. It was a really good school at the beginning and had decently strict teachers who helped set us straight in order to get us ready for high school as well as college. The curriculum was good and the help was always there. The faculty I would say was the best part because more than anything you caught yourself becoming friends with your teachers, janitors, security guards, etc. It was a very loving community and I loved it. Unfortunately after covid I feel like funding was cut and a lot of staff either got offered new positions or were let go. Students started becoming more disrespectful and staff just couldn't set them straight. I feel like part of the reason was we were just returning from the covid quarantine. Junior: I cant find the most eloquent word to describe my experience at Cal Prep. My mom says highschool are the best four years of your life, I cant say they were the best but they were the most educational years. At Cal prep I experienced my transition from childhood to adulthood, I've learned how it is possible to communicate through art, and how every object in a state of motion will remain at rest unless an external force acts upon it thanks to the Newton law. One of the most important thing my teachers have taught me is leadership, I've learned how to guide others and being able to engaged with children and teens to work together and create a safety eviroment inside and outside campus.
