Parent: My daughter began attending St. Bernadette School in the 7th Grade following our move to Northern Virginia. We couldn't be more pleased with her experience. The teachers, staff, student and parents are dedicated, kind, and caring. They helped her transition to a rigorous Catholic education, including first-time instruction in religion, grammar, cursive, and Spanish. The school is part of a vibrant parish; the priests are about campus and in the classroom. St. Bernadette School is Catholic education at its best!... Read 34 reviews

Junior: Republic has such a supportive staff and is apart of a supportive community that cares about the quality of education and programs offered at the school. They offer several programs like NHS, Jrotc, FCCLA, FBLA, DECA, FFA, and many more. Things such as state and college entrance exams can be stressful but the school offers ACT prep after school to help students prepare and do their best. They additionally offer several advanced and honors courses and dual credit courses with local universities to help students save money before they head to college. The school has invited many college representatives to help deliver information to students and support them in applying to colleges. Overall, the school cares about student success and preparation for their future in whatever career that may be. Not even the pandemic could stop this work. The district created a functioning and safe environment to bring back all of our students in person and have managed to stay in session all year long!... Read 215 reviews

Sophomore: I love Aurora. All the teachers and staff are amazing at what they do and actually care abou the students. The students are very nice and unified too. There are rarely fights, and people don't really get bullied. We also have a great dual credit program with Crowder College, Drury University, and even some agriculture classes from Missouri State University. We actually have the most students graduating with their associates degree in the area. Aurora has a large variety of extra curriculars. The activities I'm involved in have been great experiences for me.. Our FFA chapter is one of the top 10 in the nation and has had many state, national, and international champions. Our marching band has also never not made it to finals. Overall, Aurora is a great place to go to school ,and I would never want to go to any other high school.... Read 44 reviews

Senior: I have absolutely loved my time as a Mt. Vernon Mountaineer! The staff is incredible and you can really tell that they care about you as a student and a person, not just your grades. I wouldn't trade the last four years for the world and am very thankful for how much I've been prepared to continue my education at the college level.... Read 33 reviews

Alum: This may not be the common opinion of my high school, but I actually loved Miller High School. The sense of belonging and comradery here was something I really enjoyed. The school was very small and I knew practically everyone there, and as far as I saw it, if you got along with most people, you did alright. The opportunities available were below average, but above what some might expect of a town with 700 people in it.... Read 11 reviews

Senior: When I was younger, school was a source of confidence. I felt like I was good at it and could end the day feeling accomplished. As I got older, that changed. School became frustrating. It began to make me feel badly about myself. This was so discouraging and degrading. I started not wanting to go to school, not wanting to even try. My sophomore year I knew things had to change if I wanted to have a good future and go to a good college. We found Cortona Academy and, honestly, my life changed! Cortona Academy made me feel good about learning again and helped build-up my confidence. They made school less frustrating, making sure I understood something before moving on, making certain I had a strong foundation and could successfully tackle any subject put in my path. Cortona Academy helped bring up my GPA and, most importantly, helped me feel ready for college. I no longer feel discouraged; I no longer feel like I can't. Cortona Academy has shown me that I “can,” no matter what.... Read 24 reviews

Junior: The Hazelwood School District has its flaws, but overall it has been a pretty decent experience. They have many unique things within their community inside and outside of school. For example, they have the bookmobile for elementary schools, incentives for good attendance and grades in middle school, and writer's week for high school (speaking for Hazelwood West). The teachers sincerely care about their students and work hard to help accommodate their needs. One of the main strengths, if not the biggest strength, is Hazelwood School District's diversity. Having really high diversity opens other students' and teachers' eyes to real-life problems and makes them more accepting of others. It also brings the students together.... Read 115 reviews
