Senior: Without a doubt, the community and academics at Emma Willard are incredible. From day one everyone has been warm and welcoming, and everyone here really cares about one another. The teachers are always there to help with classwork/homework or just to have a chat, and the schedule is set up so there's built in time to hang out with friends and still get work done. The curriculum itself is challenging, but to a level that students will feel comfortable with and can keep up with, and as I said the faculty are always there to help. I do think the school has a lot of room to improve in it's mental health/counseling services, but the school is attempting, I think, to be responsive to it's students, it's just taking a long time. However, despite the slowness it does seem to be progressing in its DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) work, and has committed to continue working on it for the foreseeable future, which is super great!... Works Here: It is a great to work at this school! Caring administrators, teachers, coaches and staff is the number 1 reason I would choose this school for my kids. It is a rigorous curiculum with all of the support necessary for students of all ages. Senior: Shaker High School is one of the best experiences I've had. From the staff to the choices of classes, I always had something to do. The teachers are truly helpful and are always willing to talk to you if you needed help. Some teachers even became friends in the sense that you could talk to them about anything and they'll be there. As for the classes, there are different subjects you can select like computer based classes, the art programs, the music department, and much much more. Senior: Academy of the Holy Names has been a great experience through high school. I would recommend any young girl to explore this school as an option for either middle or high school to help prepare for college. Junior: When I first started at cba, I was nervous that because of the uniforms, and an all boy, military, and religious environment I would miss out on key “high school highlights” that would happen anywhere else. But now looking back on to the years as a cba brother and now looking to become a senior and staff officer in the brigade I’ve realized that cba was the school that provided me great experiences that surpassed my expectations of what I could accomplish in high school. For starters the academic environment is great as the low class sizes make it easier to focus. Another thing about academics is that someone will always be pushing you to do better whether it’s a classmate or a teacher. This school also has a great college preparation program where it guarantees kids good colleges if they’re dedicated to do so. Parent: As a parent, choosing LCS was one of the best decisions we ever made with our two kids. They loved their time at LCS with our only regret not starting them there since kindergarten or Pre-K. There are so many positives that I will run out of space in this review. It is a school where the teachers and administration truly care about the students and their families. The academics are strong with an emphasis on challenging the students to think analytically and to truly learn a subject. The students have the opportunity to take college credit classes which has allowed both of our kids to start college academically as sophomores which is a big financial incentive! The Christian worldview teaching matches with our worldview which was a must for any private school for our family. The opportunity to be part of extracurricular activities like sports, clubs, music and drama all contribute to a well rounded student. Junior: My experience has been pretty wonderful at Troy High. I am an honors student that always appreciates the high expectations that my teachers give me. I have not had any problems with making connections with the teachers or other administrators. All teachers try there best to see that every student advances in their education, no matter who they are. The music department is inviting and the ensemble directors look to teach students good habits. The sports teams are fun and our football team brings all kinds of people to their games. Playing during their games in stand band is always fun! So, I don’t have much complaints. I do wish, however, that our grades were weighted and that we had some more interesting electives.... Alum: I was a student at Gardner Dickinson in k-8th grades. Gardner Dickinson is a very small school, with about 30 people in each grade. GD offers many clubs such as Odyssey of the Mind, Drama, Jazz Band and robotics. GD also has many sports and the teams have been very highly ranked during the seasons. Freshman: The staff is really nice and welcoming. There is something for everyone, so you never feel out of place or as though you don’t belong. It’s diverse so you can meet different and new people. The teachers are always there to help if needed and so are the students. If there is a goal that you want to reach you can count on the staff to help get you there.
