Junior: This school helps me with providing me a ton of options of rigorous courses like AP classes. The teachers are willing to help when you ask them for help and they care for you. Since it is more of an academic school, the sports and music is not the best compared to other parts of the school. The school is pretty safe and there are no school fights. The kids are pretty nice to each other too. The facilities like bathrooms and buildings are a little old and sometimes need to renovate, but classrooms got new Smartboards and teachers have a lot of sources to teach children and prepare for classes. Parent: Edgewood Junior/Senior High School is a "school-of-choice" in Brevard County Florida. Only two schools in the county are designated schools of choice, where students are selected by a lottery system to attend the 7 through 12th grade school. As a school of choice, Edgewood faculty and academics focus on preparing the students to excel in their classes, sports, arts, SATs and college admissions. Small class sizes contribute to the personal one on one relationship with the teachers and administration. Students are encouraged to participate in sports, clubs or in the arts as well as a requirement to volunteer hours within the community. The school does not provide busing and that creates a "privilege culture" that limits the diversity on campus. Senior: This school fosters a genuine relationship with Christ in each of its students. The small-school culture promotes closeness in the classes. Although, new students may struggle to fit in due to already firmly established friend groups. Senior year brings many events and activities to fellowship. High school retreat is a great time to grow closer to friends and, most importantly, to Jesus. Bible class and Chapel are genuine and authentic. All seniors take Apologetics and Ethics to prepare for life after high school. Drama and music are a key part of the school’s culture. This past year they performed “Newsies.” Many students attend FBCMI’s(First Baptist Church of Merritt Island)youth group: Firehouse. This youth group fulfills the mission of making disciples. Every Wednesday students go to be fed spiritually and to fellowship with their peers. Parent: We are entering our 4th year here and we love it. Our school may not have some things that other schools have like sports teams or a big gymnasium, but we have excellent teachers and office staff. They truly care for our kiddos and their education. There will always be a special teacher that especially touches your heart and we have had several here at WMSS. We have had some teachers move or some office staff retire, but it doesn't deter from the excellence this school provides. We are a family. We support each other. Parent: Viera Charter School is a premiere elementary and middle school! As a parent, I cannot say enough great things about the teachers. They really care about their students' education and well being. We are a military family, and we feel that VCS is truly a village and everyone is watching out for all our children. Apart from the fantastic teachers, the admin works tirelessly to bring the best possible curriculum to the school. We have programs in place such as AVID and Cambridge, that make the school's learning environment so successful. Viera Charter also has a great School Resource Office, who goes above and beyond for the kids there. There is also a great amount of clubs and sports, for all ages! We are very fortunate to live in a district with such wonderful schools and teachers. But, I think VCS is just above the rest with their teachers, curriculum, and activities for all grades. Senior: I personally had a fantastic experience at odyssey. I've been at this school since vpk and will also be graduating from this school. I have been given many opportunities to leave this school, but I always choose to stay because odyssey gives me many vigorous activities to strengthen my knowledge. I have always shown courtesy towards the staff because they make the school a safe environment to learn. As someone who has been attending this school my whole life, I am very grateful to everyone who attends/ works at Odyssey because they are the reason I have been able to achieve my goals to pursue my dream.... Senior: I am a senior at Titusville High. One thing that I have enjoyed at my school is the many opportunities it has given me. I was able to join the dual enrollment and AP programs, and I have earned college credit through both. The school also has many clubs and sports to join, which is always nice. One thing I would like to see change, is the way the administration handles bullying. I have a friend who was being harassed and when he went to the administration, they made it very difficult for him to get a bully report and unfortunately the situation escalated.
