Alum: It's clear that FSHS doesn't have the money to provide the best opportunities to students, but there are enough opportunities that students who really want to learn WILL learn.
FSHS has AP English Literature, Calculus AB, biology, & American History, plus dual-credit and honors courses. Students who take these are most prepared for college-level work..but the quality of these classes depends on the teachers. There are several exceptional teachers who are REALLY dedicated to helping kids learn and grow; many good teachers who try very hard; & a few who seem as indifferent as their students. Student/parent indifference & poverty are the biggest challenges for struggling students here.
FSHS has excellent debate/forensics, math, & music programs.
Facilities and security are being improved with a building project set to finish 2018/19.
FSHS has great sports teams & extracurriculars. Their cross country coach in particular is the most inspiring/encouraging person I've ever known.
