Senior: The academics are exceptional, and for the most part the teachers are super great and helpful! Social life can be a little bit difficult because it is a small school, but I definitely found my group of people. One thing I would like to see change is the way the administration deals with bullying, harassment, and false allegations. Senior: The teachers at Dsst: Byers High School become close friends/family. I love that my teachers cared for each and one of my classmates, and took the time to know us personally. This type of relationship is great, since it makes it easier to ask for help and better advocate for yourself. To add on, there are many options for classes to take in order for each student to be challenged at a reasonable level. There are many activities and extracurriculars to join, and even opportunities to start your own club! Here at Byers inclusivity and respect are highly encouraged, there are many affinity/cultural clubs open to the whole student body. Senior: Legacy is a good school academically, but it's lacking in the math department. There are only 1 or 2 actually good math teachers, but the rest assign busywork that doesn't teach you anything or they throw you difficult problems without teaching you how to do it and then get mad when nobody knows how. I liked the music/art programs and the English department, however, there is favoritism towards the sports teams even though the band is wildly more successful than them. Senior: I have had an excellent highschool experience at FCA. The staff are amazing and genuinely care about each student. There has always been a welcoming and fun atmosphere with the student body . The school has a great stem program along with other extra curricular activities such as drama, music, and a variety of sports. The only thing I would change would be to update the facility . Parent: Last year, my son in kindergarten, and daughter in first grade, were both falling behind in public school. My daughter still didn’t know all her letter sounds and could barely read or write full words. Growing up, my husband and I both attended a Christian School and knew Belleview could positively impact our kids, both academically and spiritually. We found Belleview and enrolled the kids immediately. By April of that same school year, the results of the Stanford Achievement Test indicated that my daughter had reached a near 7th grade reading comprehension level. This year, she is earning an A+ in Spelling and Phonics and my son has excelled in Math and Science. Both of them continue to thrive at Belleview and are growing in their relationship with the Lord! Senior: Very good school with rigurous and challenging courses. Supportive and attentive staff members as well as good school mates. Lots of club and sports opportunities and easy access to resources. I haven't had any issues with the school, and I have been going to Conservatory Green since middle school. Built really good relationships with other students and was given lots of good opportunities, especially when it comes to college. They are very big on college readiness and start preparing you for it as early as 6th grade. They have lots of different programs and field trips that give you the opportunity to connect with different colleges and to just get a feel for the college life. There is a lot of diversity, and all cultures are celebrated as well as respected. The students usually get along very well. Junior: Flatirons Academy (previously Cornerstone Christian Academy when I arrived there) had its pros and cons. It was what I needed in order to grow academically, emotionally, and mentally. It introduced me to so many amazing teachers and staff who weren’t afraid to go above and beyond to care for their students. I got the chance to grow, learn, and make new experiences. Overall, the school served its purpose for me. I had my hard moments, I had some boring ones, and I had some amazing times from a community that wanted to bring the best to the table. I also had some less than exemplary teachers, but they did their best and I’m thankful for the experience it taught me. Also, that’s a part of all schools, so it’s not too surprising. They handled Covid to the best of their ability and they have always been able to help whenever I needed it. Parent: I have been a teacher at this school for 19 years and my daughter has been a student for 11 years (since PreK). We both love our school. It's not perfect. If you are looking for a perfect school, it doesn't exist. But I can tell you from an insider's perspective, everyone who works in our buildings gives their all and wants each student to not only achieve academically, but to be a well rounded, happy individual. I love being part of a charter school because the status quo never has to stay. Often parents and staff spearhead positive change. We don't have near as many hoops to jump through. We have an incredible amount of parent support and volunteering. The kids at our school are truly great kids. There is no perfect school and there are plenty of kids here making poor choices, just like everywhere. The students there are also very helpful, organized and gratifying. There are countless things that I could say about this amazing high school, and its people.
