Parent: So far, so good. Son chose this school over other top schools because he liked the community there. Happy to report that he is loving school and the food and getting acclimated very well. The HS academics are challenging which is a plus but I never got the sense that he is stressed out. It is a healthy and manageable level for him but could be difficult if student is not used to the rigor. The teachers and admins are very supportive and available and most of the students are friendly, nice, and well rounded. Alum: Southwestern Academy is a peculiar place to have attended and graduated from when I was a student. It is a great small private school that offers a safe learning environment and pushed students to reach a better potential. I learned how to write and found a new love for literature that I had not had before. Furthermore, the teachers had the capacity and time to have one-on-one time with students, which was great for me because I am terrible at math. The small school size allowed me to be able to participate in sports, such as volleyball and basketball as well as the high school drama productions. Lastly, it was easy to make connections with other students because it was a tight community. There were friends that I had made throughout the years that are from across the world and friends that I made that are close by in the same city. Senior: I love my school! I love how the Integrated Arts Conservatory is a literal family: everyone's super supportive, loving, and they all make classes and the school a safe place. Senior: During my four years at Arcadia High School, I was challenged very academically. The students here take their education very seriously because they heavily emphasize the importance of getting into a good college. My favorite part of the school is that it has so many amazing opportunities and programs for students to join and really find themselves. I joined their Marching Band for four years and during those times, I was given exciting opportunities to perform in places I would never have dreamed of. Just this year our band flew to Florida to perform in the Outback Bowl halftime show! Their programs are very well funded. Alum: I really enjoyed La Salle's wide breadth of activities, especially their clubs, and felt like there was always a place for someone to find their niche. The teachers can be hit or miss sometimes and can really make or break a class, especially at the AP level. I have a good experience because of the relationships I built with those around me. Sophomore: Temple City High School has always been a fun place to be. The class environment is usually welcoming, and students are generally friendly. As an Asian-dominant school, the environment is competitive but inspiring because of student determination. Teachers are kind and willing to help students raise grades. The clubs are diverse and vary in different topics. With school-issued Chromebooks, students don't have an issue completing their work. So far in my time at TCHS, I haven't personally experienced anything terrible. However, there have been some incidents throughout my first year. Many arguments had occurred between students and some fights had broken out. The school had to hire security guards for a short period to ensure the safety of students. Temple City High School is a great school for students looking for a challenging and exciting environment in academics, sports, etc. Though there can be many improvements to the school, it's part of the top 20% of public schools.... Alum: I have been attending Longley Way Elementary since kindergarten. The teachers are phenomenal and care deeply for the students. The library is absolutely splendid and has a wide variety of books. Longley Way has a very nice campus and the buildings are relatively well kept. I feel that Longley Way has partially shaped who I am today. One area of concern is the food waste during lunch. Students are forced to take 1 dairy product, fruit and vegetables, and protein. I have witnessed with my own eyes students throwing away entire school bought lunches. The school food was not the best. Huge industrial trash cans would e filled to the brim with relatively untouched food by the end of lunch. The amount of waste is mind-boggling. Freshman: The experience at my high school is so far very enjoyable. It's beyond anything that my middle school self could have imagined. The community is kind and welcoming as well as diverse. Upperclassmen are a great help at making new freshmen feel welcomed. They also help new students adjust to the school quickly. The teachers are so considerate with helping students with any troubles that they could have. Whether students need help with tutoring, mental health, etc. They go above and beyond to make the atmosphere as comforting and accepting as possible. Counselors are a big help too! Counselors are cooperative with students who are struggling in certain subjects by giving them many opportunities to adjust their grades. Parent: I had two sons attend Arroyo Pacific Academy (APA). One son had some learning issues; but his teachers took the time and effort to make him feel welcomed and respected. My other son had just finished his freshman year at a larger school in LA; but wasn't too enamored with the commute, so he wanted a school closer to home. He wound up transferring to APA where he, too, was welcomed and nurtured by a caring, compassionate, and very competent staff. One might think that because APA is so small, it might not attract great teachers. I can attest that isn't the case at all! As a sophomore, my son just got "5's" on his AP Biology and AP Psychology exams! The staff, teachers, administration are all top notch. Senior: Bosco Tech is an amazing school that I will always hold close to my heart. Though it is an all male Private Catholic High School, I have been able to cherish all the moments that make me the man I am today. This school has helped me become a better person, son, and older brother towards my younger sister. The education and teachers at Bosco Tech are phenomenal as I feel prepared to leave Bosco and have the ability to succeed in college. Though I love my school very much the one thing I would change about Bosco Tech would be to update the buildings and bathrooms. Most of the restrooms and the classrooms haven't had any updates since the school opened in 1955. The only significant update each classroom has received is an air conditioning and heater for when the weather gets too hot or too cold.
