Junior: Maricopa Unified is a small school, this benefits the students by allowing teachers and staff the opportunity to get to know each individual student and form relationships with them. The teachers are supportive and create a safe environment for students to express themselves. I've gone to Maricopa since 4th grade and rarely have I been witness to any fighting, when bullying does occur it is immediately investigated. The school does however lack options for clubs and sports. As of right now I only know of one club. We have football and volleyball right now and baseball/softball and basketball season is coming up soon. As a LGBTQ+ youth I have been able to thrive, find a group of friends, and are able to be myself thanks to the excepting environment I've grown up in. There are still students that have a outdated way of thinking but they don't make up a big chunk of students. Senior: What I like about my school Taft Union is that we have the best staff here. They are always so friendly and the most encouraging teachers I have met. Their always trying to make the school a better place and I appreciate that. If there was anything I could change about the school I would change the school spirit. I would love to see our school with kids dressing up on dress up days or showing up to the events. If I could go back to being a freshman I would've dressed up for it all and went to every school event.... Read 76 reviews
