Parent: With a current senior and a freshman it is fair to say we are Crusader supporters! To sum it up: the kids, faculty and administration make each other better. From academics to athletics, to the school atmosphere, there is a nurturing yet rigorous emphasis on developing the children to be strong contributors in the world. We have seen first hand with our oldest, the maturity in both the classroom and competitions that have prepared him well with fundamentals to move on to college. For our freshman we have witnessed the importance of flourishing in an environment that has both depth and breadth of offerings from a curriculum perspective as well as an extra-curricula perspective. It amazes us to see what the school is offering and even more so to witness our kids actively participate in so much, be recognized for their contributions and develop the skills necessary to be future leaders in society. There is always an active group of students trying to make change, and the school is very connected with its arts and sports as well as traditional learning. There are plenty of resources for students to take advantage of as well. However, there are some issues. Parent: Our daughter has had a wonderful kindergarten experience at Cambridge Friends. The community is diverse, engaged, and supportive and the teachers are wonderful. We've especially been impressed with the friendly and casual feel of the school, and with the depth of resources. Our daughter loves the extended day program (which is nice for us parents too!) Even in the unique COVID times, the school works to create a community which is appreciated. The school has managed the challenges of COVID in a pragmatic and transparent way which inspires confidence in the administration. The campus is beautiful, the class sizes are small and the kids get the extra attention they need. I love the focus on STEM and the inclusiveness of all the sports and after school clubs. Parent: As a parent, I am forever grateful for the opportunities at Harborlight for my children (from infant/toddler house through upper school - grade 8). The teachers are excellent, the parent association is active and welcoming, the curriculum is the right amount of challenge - this school prepared my children for the next level. There are scholarships and generous financial aid programs so that the student body represents diversity of economic status and cultural/racial diversity. A small class size and curriculum/lessons that can be tailored to each student's readiness is what truly worked best for each of my children. They made lasting friendships and also fondly speak of their 'favorite teachers' being those they had at Harborlight. Harborlight was on the cutting edge long ago with their co-ed sports teams, clubs and classes for all interests, Mandarin and Spanish immersion classrooms. The positive school environment, the support provided to the students and the excellent faculty who care deeply for girls. Due to the low student - teacher ratio - teachers get to know the students very well and encourage excelling students to expand and go deeper or provide extra help for students who need it. The combination of excellent instruction with self study & self reviewing of their homework has worked well for our girls to reinforce their learnings.
