Sophomore: I love the environment. It’s an incredibly diverse place. Everyone has a place there. The students are amazing and the teachers are definitely qualified for the job. They always respond quickly and teach amazingly. The school has so many resources that I can’t even count them all. They especially have a great college prep course. They constantly remind you and tell you to do research on colleges and to study for the past. Regarding the P-sat, they have many prep classes for it. Clubs and activities are a big part of the school. After-school, there’s constantly students on campus. If you think of any club, chances are that they have one. They have a great fine arts program. Classes range from guitar to dance and theater.Now for math and science they have specialized math competition classes and a pre-medical program. Senior: I love North Broward! The students who attend are super welcoming as well as the teachers. My favorite as a student was dissecting a fetal pig in anatomy class. I am super interested in science and that dissection truly made me want to go into surgery. At North Broward, I have been given many opportunities to become a leader in our school community. I am on leadership teams of multiple clubs and honors societies. I also got to lead a few events, my favorite being the Arbor Day Celebration National Honors Society had brought to our school. This past year was the first time this event was held and I had gotten the opportunity to lead it. We passed out 1000 bald cypress trees to the entirety of the high school in order to recognize and celebrate Arbor day. Senior: Raider Pride runs through the veins of every student, parent, faculty and alum here at Saint Thomas Aquinas. There are a plethora of sports, clubs, honor societies, and activities for everyone. While we are a school known for athletics, we are also known for our faith. Our campus ministry visits Catholic middle schools to inspire and strengthen the Catholic faith. As a STA senior, my preparation for college was definitely easier with the guidance counselors being available any time a question needed an answer. Senior: McFatter was a wonderful school that I'm proud to say I attended. Teachers and Staff were willing to help you out if you ever asked and there were plenty of tutoring opportunities. Although we may not have a sports team or a proper band, we make up for it with plentiful clubs. The P.E. course was also very fun. They offer many AP courses that will all help complete your GEP requirements for college, as well as offer Dula Enrollment. The technical programs really are the star of the show. I'm coming out of high school already as a nurse! How cool is that? Anyone can go in and come out with many different certifications that can help you immediately find a better-paying job. Despite also being a college campus, the school takes extra precautions to keep the high school students and the college students separated and have plenty of officers on site if anything were to happen. Sophomore: Pompano Beach High is unique in it's devotion to cultural inclusiveness and appreciation, something that is very important to me in a school. From exchange student opportunities to cultural celebrations every month, there are so many opportunities to develop a global vision. Additionally, the programs and teachers are dedicated to see students succeed, offering several afterschool tutoring programs and unlimited resources to broaden your horizon. The staff and students are there to help you, and are constantly waving and smiling, creating such a positive atmosphere to learn in. The only downside is that there are several clubs, such as Model UN and DECA, that are not currently in place. It can be difficult to begin a club, especially finding advisors and members, but the existing clubs are truly amazing and a great way to meet new people. Junior: My experience has been great so far! It was not what I initially expected when I applied. If you are involved you will have fun. It is what you make it. Regarding school work, it is rigorous as you climb to each grade. I am a junior and have 5 hours of homework daily. Your homework depends on the type of classes you have. It is best to make sure your mental health is always best because sometimes it is the only way you will get through. Students all understand how the technical programs work and take this opportunity seriously. Even though you are with adults because it is a college they CAN NOT talk to you for safety reasons, which is why we wear uniforms as well. Lastly, bullying does not happen because everyone is nice. Senior: Charter won't fail you! As long as you are actively communicating with your teachers and admin, you'll have one of the best experiences. Admin truly cares about the student body and is invested in their success. Some teachers can be difficult to deal with, but at the end of the day, there's always someone you can go to for advice or just to decompress. The athletics are pretty solid too, especially our girls' teams! The culture cultivated by majority of our teams are so unique because it's so family centered. Junior: My experience with NUIA was one with many milestones and achievements. I have been at that school for approximately 5 years and will continue to be there for my senior year. Since NUIA functions as a K-12 school, it functions as another family for students. It is a tight-knit community that provides support for its students through its accessibility of resources and the teachers that always have your back. NUIA is able to provide students with a proper education despite financial or social status and offers scholarships to those who need it. Money isn't a problem there for the administration only cares that a student tries his/her hardest to achieve their academic goals. NUIA also has diversity spread around its school campus and celebrates school culture with its many events that encourage school spirit and embracing one's culture. Parent: My son started Nova in the 10th grade after spending a very disappointing year at Franklin High School, he will be graduating next June. Nova gave him focus, teachers were very focused, dedicated, the teacher retention rate is high, so there are very experienced people with the kids. A wide variety of sports, clubs, etc. Law Program is stellar. Debate is very aggressive and good for anyone interested in that path. I'm sure the other programs are equally good, these are the two I have most experience with. And swimming, been tough with Covid. The school is large, so if your child is not good with that, might be a bit difficult, but even so, my son did fairly well. He came from a 'small' school background, (Montessori and Charter Schools).
