Lyons Township High School
#31 Best Public High Schools in Illinois
- Public School
- La Grange, IL
- 664 reviews
Alum: Lyons Township Highschool has an amazing academic experience. Teachers are great at
providing an educational environment, while also, connecting with students on a personal level. Diversity tends to be overlooked at times although, it is talked about. Expenses of meals could be reduced slightly, as they tend to get pricey. Free lunch could be more accessible to students with low income. There are plenty of college resources to help students get an education that is appropriate for them. Safety around the school is taken into account. Clubs, activities and sports are very abundant and also tend to be costly but have alot to offer. Administration and counselors are excellent at working with students to solve issues regarding their academics or issues outside of school. Overall, Lyons Township is a great institution for reaching for your educational ambitions.

Senior: I loved my experience at Argo Community HIgh School. Argo has become for a sort of a second home. Not only because I'm always there for practices, but also because of all the great relationships that I've made, from friends, coaches, and teachers. I am so grateful that I got to experience so many great things! Like joining the soccer team and poms team as well as finding a passion in psychology and biology. I'm so grateful for all of the experiences I've had and I look forward to making more great ones before I graduate.

Heritage Middle School

High School Senior: What made Heritage unique was their way of incorporating the school and the community into one. They had cinco de mayo celebrations which involved students dancing and the community was allowed to come and watch. Every school fundraiser or activity incorporated both.

J. Sterling Morton West High School
- J. Sterling Morton High School District No. 201, IL

Alum: I am a recent 2018 graduate of Morton East and this high school taught me more than I thought it would. While it didn’t necessarily prepare me entirely for college, the urge to achieve better and aim higher put upon me by friends, family, and staff was all the readiness I knew I needed. The teachers genuinely want you to do amazing, and many still keep in contact with their students who have graduated years ago. While Morton may not have the nicest facilities, the best food, or the most ideal curriculum, it’s rich in Latinx culture but does not exclude other prominent ethnicities within the district. The school does place a lot of emphasis on AP tests and taking AP classes, which has issues of its own, but it’s all so that students can get some college credit while still in high school.
Don’t let the history and ethnic makeup of the town or school deter you from wanting the best for your child. Providing support and additional outside resources will be just fine.
