Middle School Student: I've been going to NSA since diapers. Currently, I am in the ninth grade, and I have already received access to so many opportunities. Along with education, NSA focuses on making everyone from everywhere feel welcome in our community. Sure, we have had our rough spots, but hasn't everyone? When I have trouble or drama, NSA is my safe haven to be myself. My teachers' goal is to help students achieve theirs. Honestly, so many of my teachers at NSA have helped shape my bright future. I am always eager to learn, and I always feel welcome in their classes. Along with this, I have always found NSA to be so creative and clever. There are so many fun social activities, especially the pep rallies and football games! Overall, NSA has taught me skills that will last me a lifetime. Junior: Stonebridge is a great school that focuses on equipping the next generation with a Biblical worldview to restore the American nation. The academics are rigorous and very in-depth. AP courses and honors classes are offered. The staff and students are very genuine and will go the extra mile to help out. The whole community is very welcoming, encouraging, and want to help others grow in their faith, academics, and skills. There are so many ways to get involved as a student or parent by joining clubs, sports, drama, or prayer groups. They offer a wide variety of sports from golf to volleyball. Also, throughout the year, they include many “fun days” such as Spiritual Emphasis Week, Retreat, movie nights, etc. Overall, a fantastic school that strives to prepare young people with a strong Biblical foundation and make lasting relationships.... Senior: Nansemond River High School has embodied all of my high school life. I have made a lot of friends here and grew in more ways than one. There are many dedicated teachers here that genuinely want to help their students grow. I participated in the marching band and have seen others excel exponentially in their area of expertise. This includes visual arts, performing arts, and sports (Many awards won). Guidance is always ready to help its students and prepare them for what's next in their steps in and out of high school. But, even with this overwhelming amount of support, I have met my fair share of burnt-out teachers and students. Lunch and breakfast can be improved with more healthy and organic options. Overall, Nansemond River High School has given me the resources I need to move on to my next step in life and have a successful future. Senior: I loved how involved you were allowed to be at Smithfield and how certain teachers truly did make you feel like you mattered. Teachers like Diane Fulton, Pamela Greenberg, Janeen Healy, and Courtney Geromine, are people who have inspired me throughout my day to day life, gave me courage to do and achieve things I never would’ve been able to, as well as given me confidence in my academics that I will take with me for years to come. My only critique about smithfield is their push on inclusion and politics in the school system. My advice is to just let kids learn how they’re most comfortable, take classes they want to and leave politics out of it. Students are there to learn and achieve great things. Senior: My experience at Isle of Wight Academy has been outstanding. It is a smaller school but has all the bells and whistles that a public school offers but on a much smaller scale. Senior: The school itself is not a bad school to attend. I know the students change each year so it may not be the same when someone after me attends. The students may feel like the staff of the school does not tend to their needs, but I believe that certain teachers do, not all but a few that I have had previously. The administrators and counselors are also very helpful when it comes to questions and moving students to places from the hallway rushes. Each student has different opinions and this is mine....
