Sophomore: Daarul Uloom has the perfect environment to help nurture the core values of Islam in students. The school is ahead of a year education-wise, so preschool gets first-grade education and the first grade gets second-grade education, and it goes on like this until eight grade. The high school is filled with opportunities like college courses...Read 3 Reviews

Parent: Both of our kids started at The New School in ninth grade, after eight years of public school. It was one of the best parenting decisions we've ever made. Everything about this school is terrific. The teachers are passionate, inspired, and inspiring. Small, topics-driven, seminar-style classes foster creativity and independent thinking, while the welcoming atmosphere makes everyone feel at home. Our two kids turned out to be very different kinds of learners, but both thrived at The New School. Our youngest graduates next year, and we'll be sad to think of not having that day-to-day connection. Can't say enough about this wonderful school!...Read 26 Reviews

Senior: I love the Christian atmosphere at PCS. I never appreciated it growing up, but now that I am about to take on the world as an adult, I am glad I have an abundance of Biblical knowledge. This knowledge helps me stand firm in what I believe and why I believe it. It did not matter what subject I was learning in school, the teachers would always try and turn everything we were learning back to Jesus. I also have been able to have great relationships with my teachers and peers because of the smaller class atmosphere. Yes, of course, there are downfalls and struggles like every school have. PCS does not excel in things like sports, but they do a great job at making sure we are Christians prepared for the world...Read 73 Reviews

Works Here: I have been teaching here for one year. The COVID crisis was handled with great care and left me very impressed. Our reopening policies have been top-notch in terms of safety and compliance with state and local regulations. We have regular, helpful professional development, and I feel I have grown as a teacher by working alongside such caring administrators and teachers. We are 1-to-1, and I have learned a LOT of ed-tech in this position...We have very hard-working students, who are mostly respectful and easy to handle. I am saying this as a 2nd-year teacher with little to no classroom management skills. Despite rising tuition, our business office works with students on a case-by-case basis, with many opportunities for assistance. And as a private school, we get a lot done with less $ per pupil (~$8 k vs. IL avg of $15 k)...One growth point would be faculty retention (though there is a swell in retirements and this might be the reason). I am deeply grateful to be a part of this communityRead 147 Reviews

Junior: I love Metamora a lot! The teachers are very nice, and they taught me so much! The school is starting to focus more on vocational education, and there is a new addition to the votech wing. Sports, mainly football, is very important. The classes are not very difficult, even the honors classes, so this school might not be challenging enough for some students. There is also little diversity in the school. Still my experience so far at this school has been great!...Read 169 Reviews

Senior: Personally, I enjoyed my time at East Peoria High School. I felt like the students were friendly and the staff worked hard to provide a safe space for each student. Also, almost every teacher I had made sure I knew the material we were covering and would always find a time if I needed additional help. The teachers really made sure to make the classroom a fun yet effective environment. However, some areas I feel like needed improvement were in the diversity. There is not much diversity in the school as well as the surrounding community. Along with that, I believe another area East Peoria High School may need to step up is in involvement. Lately, there has not been as many students involved in the school as years before and participation in school events has gone down. The amount of parents stepping up to support the school is declining also. Overall this school is pretty good and the positives outweigh the negatives...Read 75 Reviews

Parent: Our 3 sons attended Bethel Lutheran School years ago but we remain involved with the school & know many current parents in grade levels. They provide everything you would want for your child; excellent academics, Christian education and atmosphere, sports being in 4th grade, music, even a small band, strong science, math & language arts. Strong parent involvement from helping in classroom to coaching a sports team and everything in between. Classroom doors locked with extra locked door at entrance to hallway and a no entrance with out being buzzed in policy. Before & after school daycare, excellent preschool and Jr High that prepares students for high school and beyond. Some examples from our son’s:...1. During interview for PhD neuropsychology program, they asked our son how he became interested in science, he told them about Bethel and his science experience there2. Another son attributed his paper writing skills in college to what he learned at Bethel. I could go on & on....Read 1 Review

Parent: My son is in third grade at St. Bart's. We moved from an independent Catholic school and the change in his self-confidence was obvious right away. Class size is small, my son has a homeroom teacher and additional teachers for Spanish, Music, PE, library and computer lab. Although we don't need extra help in the classroom, I know resources are available for kids who have different challenges. Extracurriculars are provided through CYO or private companies and include chess, sports, science, robotics. The school body is small and teachers know all the kids by name. Recess is well supervised, and aftercare is fun. Hot lunch is catered and the caterer offers reasonably balanced meals. Uniform is easy, no jacket for the little guys in lower school! We'd love to see more after school activities being offered to the kids...Read 28 Reviews
