Alum: Pretty good. Staff is helpful and caring. Not very diverse. Buildings are nice and usually clean. Sports are good but very “coach's favorites” oriented. Many clubs, sports, and actives are offered. Helps prepare for college but could use a little more work preparing students for college. Overall a pretty good school!... Read 216 reviews

Parent: There are so many great things about this school! First, because it is a Christian school, objective truth is acknowledged, taught, and honored. This includes teaching about our Savior, Jesus Christ, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. This also means the standards are high. SCCS strives for excellence in all aspects of school life because that is most glorifying to our Savior. This leads the second best thing about the school: the teachers. The teachers here truly love and care for their students. They see this as more than just a jobs, but as a calling, and it shows. Next, the families of the school are great. When the parents of all the students also have "skin in the game," they push the students to work hard, get along, honor Christ. All are on the same team. Since we are to love God with body, mind, and soul, they prioritize arts and athletics alongside academics. Things I wish were different include the difficulties due to limited budgets funded by tuition.... Read 20 reviews

Parent: Our 3 sons attended Bethel Lutheran School years ago but we remain involved with the school & know many current parents in grade levels. They provide everything you would want for your child; excellent academics, Christian education and atmosphere, sports being in 4th grade, music, even a small band, strong science, math & language arts. Strong parent involvement from helping in classroom to coaching a sports team and everything in between. Classroom doors locked with extra locked door at entrance to hallway and a no entrance with out being buzzed in policy. Before & after school daycare, excellent preschool and Jr High that prepares students for high school and beyond. Some examples from our son’s: 1. During interview for PhD neuropsychology program, they asked our son how he became interested in science, he told them about Bethel and his science experience there 2. Another son attributed his paper writing skills in college to what he learned at Bethel. I could go on & on....... Read 1 review

Alum: This school provided an extremely strong spiritual and academic foundation for my experiences in high school. Classes and materials are top notch, and the teachers are truly invested in both your education and your relationship with God. Although the sports programs are relatively small, there is still good competition with other schools in basketball, baseball, volleyball, track and field, and cross country. I couldn't have asked for a better education experience!... Read 1 review

Parent: My kids have been attending Basis since before the pandemic, and we are so impressed! Rich academic curriculum, good inclusion of the arts, excellent opportunity for differentiation based on student needs. The teachers are dedicated and so are the parents to the kids' success. While the administration has been bumpy as the school has gotten established (only 5 years old), they earned their stripes during the pandemic. Organized, safety-focused and diligent about communication. We supplement school with sports leagues and scouting outside of school, which many parents do. Easy to do given the extensive choice you have in the DC area. Also appreciate the international study body with impressively bright students from all over the world. A real meritocracy, unlike other private schools that admit based on VIP status or connections/donations. In the next few years, this school will only continue to advance its place in the rankings.... Read 46 reviews
