Parent: I have 2 children at Morgan Park Academy in the Early Childhood program and we love it! My kids are engaged and challenged academically and are taught about kindness in a world that seems to have forgotten about it. I love that my children could sing and count in French, Spanish, and Mandarin from the age of 3. The teachers truly care about the students and work hard to make it a great learning environment. Senior: Couldn't ask for a better high school experience. Every single teacher I had was extremely patient, enthusiastic, and overall just willing to work with the class. I know I can't speak for everyone, but this was at least my experience. Faith life is also very good, especially having the experience to go on Kairos and to school masses. The introduction to community period really helped me to stay a little more on top of my work, definitely helping with stress levels. Honestly, campus is extremely easy to navigate after a few days and although it isn't top tier facilities, everything gets the job done. I've been able to notice subtle improvements across the whole school throughout the time I've been there, so I know there are always going to be small improvements here and there to keep everything rolling smooth.... Senior: Marist High School has taught me a lot and really prepared me for college. I have met so many amazing people at Marist, students and teachers. I have formed unforgettable friendships and had so many good times at all of the events Marist has. But, Marist can also be very overwhelming with homework and the rigorous classes. Some teachers can be hard to work with, but mostly I have had great experiences. Senior: My experience at Bishop Noll institute has been amazing and unforgettable. I am part of the graduating class of 2023. I have been at Bishop Noll institute since my freshman and have grown up here. During my freshman year, the pandemic started and the staff and administrators have maybe the school safe and still fun, exciting, and engaging. The one thing that stands out here a Bishop Noll is the family environment. The School is rather, so it is easy to get know everyone and to really become close to them. The school offers a ton of clubs and programs p to help people become engaged and included. The one thing I would love to see change is a better representation of different races, ethnicities, and cultural. The school is very diversified but it needs to do a better job of making sure all the different students can be seen and heard. Senior: Illiana Christian school has really changed my perspective on God and how a child of God should live. I love that they involve Christianity into our everyday learning. Each and every one of the teachers are a blessing to the students. Though the workload may be heavy, the teachers are always willing to give their students the best support needed. They also are very interested in actually building a relationship with the students, which makes Illiana even better! Every Monday, Wednesday, & Friday we have Chapel, where about 6 seniors lead a new skit about God. Every Tuesday and Thursday the students have club after second period. Students are able to make their own club if they have participants and a teacher to sponsor it! Senior: As a graduating senior at Southland College Prep High School, I can confidently say that my time here has been nothing short of outstanding. My school's lottery picked me, and I am eternally grateful. Tutoring and mentoring are only two of the many support services available to students at Southland. Students in Southland also have a lot of different opportunities. The number of honors and advanced placement options is significant, for instance. To counteract the school's strict adherence to the rules and its emphasis on academics, I think it should relax its grip on student-organized extracurricular activities. Aside from academics, high school should be a fun place to share memories with friends and try new things. Senior: Located in the center of Hammond Downtown stands HAST, a new public charter school that has an alternative way of learning. The small students to teacher ratio combined with the use of technology is the reason why this school is so different and stands out from other Hammond schools. Although this school focuses on science and technology there's opportunities for students to express themselves in clubs and sports. HAST recently celebrated their 10 years and upon it's many new additions to the school (greenhouse, flowerbeds, theater room, TV show) the students and staff are still working on creating a bigger space for it's diverse student body. They also have 'Discovery Time', a class where their middle schoolers learn teamwork and solve real world problems. HAST's passionate teachers and talented students come to school everyday with different goals, interests, and backgrounds, but unite to become the most promising school you could imagine.... Parent: Hansberry is a good school. I love that we are like a family And that the classes are small. Hansberry academic wise is very good and my child being a student there has prepared her for college! Although the IB courses a rigorous, my child love the challenges! One thing I’d like to see change is the fighting amongst the students. Middle School Student: I started going to Gary comer in 6th grade my 6th grade year was different I wasn’t expecting to go from a elementary school that allows us to do what we want to a school that’s very strict besides the school being strict I met some new friends I met new teachers and I also learned a lot I eventually transferred because of the discipline but I went back my high school year and completed my four years, it was a different feeling during my high school years because they changed the rules meaning they wasn’t as strict. Senior: My experience at Englewood stem was amazing . The building and campus is nice, I met very good and caring people, the school created many opportunities for me and other students, and the rest is just exciting. The opportunities they've created that were very important to me are offering college classes. It's Important to me because I can go to college with half or almost my credits or semester done. 1 student from my school is already graduating with their associate degree and that made more students want to take college classes and So, Englewood stem made a way to offer more college classes. Another thing I want to include is that I was nominated for the youth of the year , my coach got me into a computer science job , and the sports teams are really talented.
