Alum: I attended The Waldorf School of Garden City from K-12 and I can confidently say that those 14 years set a great foundation for my future. The curriculum’s emphasis on experiential learning provided me with a holistic education. For example - in addition to studying the History of Africa in a seminar style main lesson, we practiced an ethnic African dance. This immersed me more deeply and gave me an appreciation of the African culture. Active learning allowed me to internalize my education and I know these experiences will stick with me for the rest of my life. ...Waldorf prepared me well for college-level work. The smaller intimate community provides an invaluable network of parents, faculty and alumni willing to offer advice and support during college years and beyond. Waldorf molds students into well-rounded problem solvers and independent thinkers. I was taught to have opinions, ask questions and strive to make a difference, with purpose, gratitude, and respect...Read 52 Reviews

Junior: North Shore Hebrew Academy has made my high school experience one that I will never forget. There is such great diversity, with students coming from several different communities, and yet there is such a strong sense of unity among us. When I first began high school, I was nervous that it would be difficult both socially and academically, but I was relieved to find myself in a warm and welcoming environment. North Shore offers endless clubs and ways to be a part of this school and I am so glad I was able to involve myself in a series of extracurricular activities, each pertaining to my interests. In addition, I feel that my teachers here at North Shore truly have my best interests at heart and that each of them is dedicated to challenging their students in a productive and intellectual manner. When I complete my high school education, I will feel that I am leaving behind not only a school, but a home...Read 84 Reviews

Parent: As a graduate and now having a son in the school, I have seen Chaminade's continuous focus on excellence in education and building the complete student thriving. My son is having a great experience and is involved in a number of activities from an interscholastic sports team to band to business and other clubs to religion study and National Honor Society - all while driving to meet the rigorous academic challenge Chaminade offers. Academics & Catholic faith come first and they offer state of the art facilities, extensive parent involvement, and the ability for the students to succeed. There is something for every student from athletics to clubs to volunteer opportunities while continually fostering the Catholic faith. I highly recommend this school - but you have to want to do it. Overstating the obvious but you will get out of the school what you put into it - knowing there are tremendous opportunities available...Read 241 Reviews

Freshman: I am currently a freshman at Sacred Heart Academy and overall it has been an honor going to this school and being a part of the community. Sacred Heart is an amazing school for girls to challenge themselves hence the fact that it's a college predatory high school. When asked to describe a good school most people say that they have amazing teachers and nice friends but I can say that my school has a curriculum based on teaching us and stimulating our brains to live in the real world. The many subjects introduce us to the diverseness of the world. Alongside education, Sacred Heart is a great place to make friends and socialize while staying on top of school work. We have a large range of sports, clubs, and extracurriculars that are a great way to find friends that you have similarities. Some of the clubs that I am involved with are the Multicultural Club and Women Empowerment. As much as school can be exhausting, we should always remember the great times we've had and are soon to have!...Read 261 Reviews

Alum: St. Francis Prep is a great high school and really did live up to its name, “preparatory”. Before I began high school here, my writing skills were horrid! SFP helped me with that tremendously through their labs, writing workshops and the amazing staff. Senior: New Hyde Park Memorial High School is a 7-12 building so it would seem hard for the middle schoolers to adapt and learn well in such a large environment. However, I think the school’s teachers and staff do a good job with the engaging both the 7th graders and the seniors. There’s always a lot going on in school and you can tell the faculty and staff just want to create a save and enjoyable learning environment for all the students. I have enjoyed my time in New Hyde Park Memorial and I will always remember the great people I’ve met. I really liked how teachers tried their best to be inclusive and create a personal bond with all their students. However, NHP Memorial can always improve and I would like to see more variety among the classes being offered to students that is not your typical science, math, english, and social studies. I wish I had the chance to experience more real life opportunities before heading off to college...Read 175 Reviews

Parent: I have 3 children at SSLI. My children have all attended since Kindergarten. One is in elementary school, one is in middle school, and, one is in high school. I love the school. The class sizes are small and the teachers truly care about the students' well-being: academically; socially; and, emotionally. The teachers are all approachable. If a student needs extra help in a subject, it is provided. Also, the teachers regularly communicate with the parents. In addition to an excellent secular academic program and Jewish Studies program, the students are taught personal responsibility, accountability, compassion, and kindness. They are taught how to become leaders and how to individually take steps to make the world a better place. This is one of the special things that sets SSLI apart from other schools. I also appreciate that the school prioritizes security and safety of the students and faculty...Read 53 Reviews

Parent: I don't have anything bad to say about this school yet. My daughter has been there for 2 years, now going into her 3rd year (9th grade). The school's communication and support during the pandemic was truly amazing and greatly appreciated. When my daughter was struggling mentally and with her schoolwork, guidance and teachers stepped in and offered so much support to us. Constant communication and there was never a time I couldn't reach someone. Not all teachers are great, but most are. There are cliques, but EVERY school and neighborhood has this. It's part of human nature. Lots of clubs, sports, an extra-curricular activities. Building is old and needs updating. They need AC! There's no diversity here, but that is NOT the school's fault. This is a socio-economic issue. Franklin Square is VERY expensive. There is no home for under half a million and there are no affordable rentals here. Unfortunately, that means a lot of minorities are unable to live here and attend school here...Read 190 Reviews

Parent: My child’s experience at SKCA was pretty average. The teachers make students memorize information which I don’t think is the best tactic. The teachers are very flexible with the school work. If a student takes extra time to complete an assignment, they get the same grade as if they completed it on time. This isn’t exactly fair for students who complete their work on time, but they do this so all students can do well. ...The school is small though, on this website they say there is 600 kids but it’s more like 200-300.The administration is strict which can be good or bad depending on how you interpret it.Read 7 Reviews

Parent: We love Notre Dame! We transferred our daughters to Notre Dame from the local public school when they were midway through 5th grade. It was the best decision we’ve ever made for our girls (they are now in 8th grade at Notre Dame). The academics are excellent and the options in taking languages, having a video conferencing room, having their own video news reports, afterschool classes, sports, STREAM program, etc. made their experience so much more academically and socially enriching than what they had previously! The administration, faculty and staff at Notre Dame are so caring and supportive. “The Notre Dame Family” environment is truly a gift that never stops giving. Senior: I have been going to Bethel for years now , the school has gone through a lot of changes but it still holds up as a decent experience. The environment was loving and caring, there was very little bullying, and everyone just did what they had to do. The schools student size has dimmed quite a lot since I first started, with it even potentially dropping with my class graduating this year. But to be honest the small student count allows the teachers to have better relationships with their students, and allow for familiarity to show its head early on. The school is a place of love and I hope more people can find and support the school...Read 16 Reviews
