Parent: Our rising junior will be entering their 14th year at Elgin Academy, having attended since pre-K. That alone speaks volumes - we've offered our child the opportunity to change schools at lower school, middle school, and high school entrance points. There was no question he wanted to stay. Our child is happy, challenged, and displays growing confidence each year. EA sets the kids up for success by the ready accessibility of the teachers, the challenging curriculum, and approaching each student in a holistic manner. I was especially impressed with how my child's teachers were able to successfully pivot their curriculum to live-streaming during our first go-round with Covid-19 remote learning. Alum: I thoroughly enjoyed my time at The Einstein Academy. It was a great experience, and the community was always very welcoming and fun. I highly recommend this school to any family looking for a safe environment where their children will have all their needs met, whether social or academic. The teachers are very friendly and seem more like family. Whenever I or my peers had difficulty with a subject, the staff would always take time after school and give extra in-depth explanations. Junior: St. Charles North High School offers the best learning environment of any school that I have attended. The teachers really care. The school is also a blue ribbon school which makes the learning environment even better. On top of that North is extremely successful when it comes to athletics. Middle School Student: Exiting wredling middle, i believe that it is a good school but it does have flaws. For starters, there really isn't much diversity. With that being said, clubs are very fun and there is adequate security with a officer there with the students. Depression and anxiety thrives in wredling middle school, whether it be by extreme hall crowding that caused me panic attacks. Going through a deep depression there sucked horribly because i couldn't harm on the outside for fear of someone reporting me to student services so i just suffered internally. Freshman: I've had SO much fun at this school! Majority of the students are kind, fun-loving, and full of energy. Almost every teacher I've had has been amazing, engaging, and many of them have gotten me interested in subjects that I hated before being in their classes. Everyone I've met here, including the staff, is super nice, but there are a few teachers who haven't been very helpful in their subjects. The student life here is also great! Being a part of athletics is a big commitment, but it's a ton of fun, a good way to meet people, and the coaches are awesome. Attending sporting events, especially the activities during homecoming week, even when you're not an athlete are also a great way to spend time and meet people. There are lots of clubs and organizations for people to join in which the kids within them become extremely close with each other and the teachers. Alum: When I went there then it was such a fun experience and almost all the teachers I had were very kind. Also, I feel like when leaving this school it set me up good for middle school. Now in high school I have realized that the learning taught at this school helped make middle school not too hard which brought it over to high school. Senior: Wheaton Academy is a great place to connect with strong mentors. The teachers are absolutely amazing and pour into each and everyone of their students. However, there is a lack of diversity, not only racially but economically as well. A big fault is creating a safe environment for students that are not apart of the upper class. Many students do not know what it is like to experience finical difficulties and I feel teachers fail to work that into curriculum. There is also a rumor going around that if you receive financial aid you are not allowed on student council. While this may not be true, teaches and administrators have failed to address it. Over all my WA experience had been very productive. I have gained life long friends with teachers and peers and I have felt cared for my individual teachers. Sophomore: South Elgin High School is a good school that has offered me many opportunities in sports and academics. I am currently enrolled in my school's Beacon Academy, which offers unique studies and hands-on experience in media and broadcasting. South Elgin also offers a vast diversity of students. I have met people of all races, regions, cultures, and much more. I have become friends with people that have taught me new things about their culture and experiences. I have also found community in my culture, sports, religion, and academics. Here most of my teachers offer extended support. However, I have encountered teachers that I have not agreed with. The school lunches are also not ideal and I personally feel the school has too large of a population. But the school is mostly clean and safe. The staff here care about the students' well-being. Junior: St. Edward Central Catholic High School is a good school overall. Teachers here care more about your education than teachers in public schools because there are less students. Overall, St. Edwards is a close knitted community consisting of people who care about their students’ education. Despite that, there are downsides of this school. This school isn’t as diverse as I’d like it to be, and truth be told, diversity is a fundamental factor in a child’s education and how they turn out. Apart from that, I think despite how advanced our school is to public school, it offers less opportunities than public schools sometimes. Many people talk about all these various programs, classes, and extra school curriculares that public schools have to offer. Our school does not have a lot of these, and it’s mainly because our school is not funded by the government. Sometimes, I can’t help but feel like I’m missing out on some of these opportunities.... Senior: My experience at Kenyon Woods Middle School was overall a great experience! I made fantastic friends and there was nearly no bullying at the school. However, some of the teachers were not the best in terms of their friendliness and approach to teaching. They were very harsh and had no idea how to respect students.
