Parent: The Hill School is aptly named the family boarding school for good reason. From our first tour, it was clear to us that Hill is more than just a top-notch education. We have two daughters at Hill and could not be more pleased with the faculty, education, after-school activities and warm environment. Parent: The choice of how & where to school children is one of the major decisions parents must make for their children. As parents of four children, this was a growing concern as our first child was reaching school age. While there were many options available that we explored, we are continually confident that Coventry Christian Schools was the best option for our family. With children now in the secondary and elementary levels, we remain grateful for this school community. Our top three reasons are: strong educational value(classical school model), family friendly community, and a safe environment on multiple levels. Senior: OJR is a good school when it comes to academics and athletics. Most teachers want to connect on a personal level and the clubs are nice when you're not overly stressed. A warning to incoming juniors: Don't take all the hardest courses. That year was one of my hardest yet. The food is pretty good, and since covid, they have been having free meals with an entree plus fruit or veggie. As far as workload, it depends on the type of class (College Prep, Honors, AP, IB) along with the teacher. Typically it is outlined in the syllabus or you can hear from older students/siblings. There is a wide variety of electives to choose from, but if you like a lesser known field, you might have one elective and that's it, such as oceanography or interior design. Diversity wise, it is mostly upper middle class white people. It is a little difficult to make new friends with people who have known each other since elementary but you get through it. Alum: Kimberton Waldorf School is a school with unique experiences, but it is not without its flaws. Due to it being a small private school, there are smaller classes and closer connections with classmates and teachers. The school has a lot of opportunities to do art and learn about art. For school trips, there are many that take place outdoors with camping. There are a few trips with backpacking, one with canoeing, and another in 12th grade where the students go to Maine to learn about Zoology and have the opportunity to see the life that they are learning about. There are many hands on experiences such as that. Kimberton Waldorf being a small school also comes with its disadvantages. There are fewer clubs and less opportunities for sports. Senior: Renaissance Academy prides itself on making sure students are ready for college. The senior project program as well as academics and clubs prepare students to be well-rounded individuals. However I will argue that because of the high expectations of the school it is sometimes hard to accommodate if a student has certain needs. I have found that there are resources for students struggling to meet these expectations, especially those in rigorous classes, but it is often more overwhelming than an average high school. I believe mental health is extremely important and having high expectations is fine, but mental health should be deeply considered more often and more willing to accommodate needs. I think our clubs are the strongest asset of Renaissance. The Coexist club and Minority Student Union actively work to create an inclusive and diverse environment, and our administration encourages our clubs to be intersectional in our activism and initiatives.... Senior: I loved my experience at PJP and it’s been a huge blessing in my life to go there! The opportunities they give their students have impacted my life greatly. I am involved in musical theater, show choir, and band at PJP. In these programs I’ve been able to make so many friendships and I’ve learned so much about the craft that I love. School used to be something I dreaded and once I went to PJP I learned to love school and I really get excited about learning and seeing everyone each day. Pope John Paul’s response to covid was to have us go to school in a hybrid form. I am so grateful for the opportunity to get to go to school safely during these times. Parent: Transferring to Montgomery was the best decision we made. After a very short time our child has become much more independent and confident. She loves school! In previous years she never enjoyed science. Now, science is her favorite subject! (the science teacher by the way is incredible!) All teachers are at Monty. Each teacher is unique and fully invested. Entering as the “ new kid” mid year did not phase her one bit. The admissions team, faculty, students and family laid out the red carpet for our daughter. The children are kind, polite and inclusive. Montgomery is more than a school, it is a family. Our only regret is that we didn’t enroll years ago. Thrilled we found this gem of a school! Parent: My children have been going to Windsor for 9 years, ever since my oldest was in kindergarten. We love that Jesus is woven through every subject and the Classical Education curriculum is great. The academics are high here compared to other Christian schools in the area. They just started a sports program (soccer, basketball and cross country) and the soccer team won the league! The teachers pour into the students and it shows. Parent: After visiting several schools in the area, we knew right away the Wyndcroft School was the perfect fit. A big draw to the school was the small class sizes. The students welcomed us with smiles and we instantly felt the kindness through the school community. The teachers and staff are wonderful, they feel like family- providing a warm and nurturing environment! Our daughter happily goes to school every day. She is not only excelling in reading and math but coming home with daily knowledge of art history, French, music and science. At such a young age I am amazed at how much she has learned. We are pleased with the new after school activities this year and fun family events that create a strong sense of community.
