Parent: My three children attend Lake Champlain Waldorf School, and we have been so pleased with their education and the community. Each one of our kids has such different needs, interests, strengths, and challenges, and somehow the approach meets them individually so well -- they are each thriving in their own particular way. It's a rich, experiential education with plenty of outdoor time every day, and an opportunity to really connect with their teachers. Their teachers truly KNOW them, and often reflect back to me aspects of my own children that I might not see on my own. Junior: Scholarship, Community, and global responsibility, thats what Vermont Commons is about. A small school, about 100 students and 25 faculties, that is college prep highly focuses on hands on learning and adapting to different learning styles. The ratio of students to teacher makes it so that students can get help easily. Because the school goes from 6th -12th grade it is very common to see juniors and senior being friends with the middle schoolers. The school also focuses on leadership, so there are many many opportunities when a student can lead other students and where their options matter heavily for example the student body government. Students with all different personalities, goals, and needs are met here in Vermont Commons School. But since the school belongs in a small state that people mistakenly think is in Canada, diversity is especially poor.... Read 19 reviews

Junior: My experience with South Burlington High School has been phenomenal. The teachers care about learning and I know they want me to succeed. There are many clubs/activities offered through the school which provides many ways to students to get involved. Administrators and guidance counselors are readily available whenever a student may need them and are very knowledgeable. Overall students are supportive and there is a sense of community. During Covid-19, even though our classes looked and functioned differently the teachers made sure we were okay and always leant a hand whenever it was needed. Works Here: The teachers and the community offered at Rice are top-notch! The advantage of a smaller school is that it allows the teachers to truly customize the learning for each individual. I like that they still use textbooks in classes and still expect students to do homework. Plus I feel that Rice gives students opportunities they wouldn't have elsewhere - competitive athletics, field trips, music and art programs, lots of extracurriculars. It's worth considering.... Junior: As an upcoming Senior at this school I have chosen to change schools because of the community and just changes I've experienced at the school. Being there for 3 years in a row can really change you and I don't think I've gotten the college prep that I feel I need. Senior: Many opportunities and experiences to take advantage of. The administration tries to keep their students as their top priority. Parent: The principal know every child and parent by name. He is firm but very kind. The nurse is the best and a hospital doctor calls her the "rock star nurse". The teachers vary but most of them are very wonderful and caring teachers. I think they could be more consistent in the school about homework vs no homework.... Read 1 review

Parent: I have two children in Chamberlin School. They feel important and cared about. Our family has gone through some major transitions while my children have been in this school and from their classroom teachers, to SEL coaches and school nurse they have a team of adults who make them feel safe and supported. As we approach each new school year and talk about who they hope they'll have for a teacher next year they are always undecided and say, "It doesn't really matter, they're all great!" High School Senior: This little school is great for a student that wants to do well. The teachers are very good at getting to know you and being helpful when you need them most. Also, the environment of the school is amazing. Always in the halls is happiness and joy. People are always saying hi, busting jokes. Parent: Vermont Day School has done wonders for our children! The most recent faculty are top notch and have created a wonderful, caring academic community. Our children have felt supported and have the confidence to pursue their academics and special interests. They get to experience Spanish, STEM, art and music every day through out the school year not just occasionally. Field trips and real world learning are frequent. The middle school trip to Costa Rica was an amazing learning experience for our daughter and gave her confidence and independence that she will take with her into high school. Our other child is reaching their full potential with individualized attention and working ahead of their grade level in math. We couldn't be more pleased, as parents, that our children absolutely LOVE going to school every day and can't wait to tell us about all they have experienced. Vermont Day School is a gem....
