Alum: I attended Evansville Day for high school. The classes and student body are small, in a good way. Everyone knows literally everybody, and you meet people from all walks of life, from all over Evansville, Southern Indiana, and even Kentucky and Illinois. I was able to bypass required math and foreign language instruction in college thanks to advanced courses offered by Evansville Day. It offers the small sizes and elite academics with traditional high school social options. Although naturally smaller in scale, Evansville Day offers competitive athletics (particularly boys basketball) with fun atmospheres, typical events like prom and homecoming, and an award-winning musical arts program. There are additional fun events that only an Evansville Day-sized school can offer; Progressive Dinner, Intersession (out-of-class education including international trips occurring the week before spring break), and Senior Projects (school-sponsored job shadowing for seniors). It was perfect for me!...Read 11 Reviews

Senior: Reitz Memorial High School embodies school spirit. From athletics, to clubs, to education, RMHS strives for excellence. The faculty and staff prepare rigorously in order to ensure that the students are properly equipped and ready for college. Out of every high school in the city, there is no other school which continuously produces high achieving students. Reitz Memorial High School is a Catholic centered school which instills important Christian values within its students. The RMHS community serves Evansville and organizes many food drives and fundraisers. I love my school. Memorial has pushed me to be the best student I can be. Senior: I think that North High School is an amazing school for all students to go to. The teachers are extremely helpful when it comes to helping kids academically and in other ways. Every student always feels so welcomed when they walk inside the school building. I have never had a teacher I've had major issues. I think this school is one of the best in Indiana. Any student and teacher would be lucky to attend North High School. The academic programs are wonderful and the sports and arts programs are some of the best in the state. Parent: Both of our kids started at The New School in ninth grade, after eight years of public school. It was one of the best parenting decisions we've ever made. Everything about this school is terrific. The teachers are passionate, inspired, and inspiring. Small, topics-driven, seminar-style classes foster creativity and independent thinking, while the welcoming atmosphere makes everyone feel at home. Our two kids turned out to be very different kinds of learners, but both thrived at The New School. Our youngest graduates next year, and we'll be sad to think of not having that day-to-day connection. Can't say enough about this wonderful school!...Read 26 Reviews

Senior: Mater Dei High School offers challenging courses, a well trained staff, and a welcoming environment. Though it is a relatively small school, that allows for a lower student to teacher ratio, which give students more confidence when asking questions, engage in group activities, and opportunities for one-on-one time with the teachers. Teachers are passionate about seeing their students succeed and prepared for the future. Plenty of Clubs as well as extracurriculars activities are available for all students to participate and develop skills...Read 119 Reviews

Senior: I went to to central for my last year of my high school career and honestly being the new kid at a different school wasn’t as bad as I thought it was gonna be. At first I was nervous about talking to people I wouldn’t think to ever see in my life, although it was a tough challenge to tackle I made the most it. I tried to be as outgoing as I can and it worked in my favor. But the made one thing I was most disappointed about being at central or even being at any high school matter of fact was not being able to play baseball for my last year of high school was the most devastating thing to happen. But other then that I enjoyed my time at Central High School...Read 151 Reviews

Sophomore: Most teachers are funny, caring and cool. It’s mostly a relaxing school compared to all the others. Teachers don’t shame you for needing help, they joke around and are close with the kids and we usually have fun. I wish we could do more hands on activities but other than that it’s a pretty good school. It gets a bad rap for kids going there because they’ve gotten kicked out of other schools or from Hillcrest but a lot are there because it’s easier to graduate especially to graduate early and most kids are cool. There’s not really any cliques there like every other school. Everyone usually hangs out with everyone, no one judges you for not having money, being different etc. also the police officer there is very sweet and gets along with all the kids...Read 2 Reviews

Middle School Student: I really like the encouraging teachers and their style of teaching. Everyone there is very welcoming and the teachers find fun ways of educating us. The academics there are very scholastic, and they try to get all students to have better social and communication skills and it really helps students become leaders or supportive followers. They help us to become good role-models. What I think has room for improvement, though, is their small variety of classes. It would be amazing if they added Creative Writing or Journalism or Photography classes, or maybe just clubs for those. Something more to prepare us for high-school. Also, their small amount of students make it to where you know everyone, and have for the past eight years, so if you are placed in classes without any of your friends, it's hard to befriend people you already know and might dislike or not get along with. So I wish you could request to be in a certain class, and if that request is denied, then oh, well...Read 1 Review

Parent: We transferred our children to CLS early in the Pandemic from MCPS to receive in-person schooling so we can continue to work. The amount of dedication and selflessness the staff and teachers displayed during this challenging and stressful time was a testament to their pride in their work and love of God. ...The quality in the schooling is good. Cursive, hand writing, language arts and grammar were deficient in the public schools and I was grateful that it is emphasized here. There was a lot of catching up for my kids! Living a life of good character is discussed regularly. ...My older child’s math did not grow much this year but it was because he was in accelerated math and this is not available at the school. I hope this can change. We are keeping both our children in this school this coming year.Read 50 Reviews

Parent: Commonwealth Academy is above and beyond what anyone could possibly imagine for their child. We needed to find a small, specialized school so that our daughter could thrive and succeed. It was a thrill to find such an inclusive atmosphere filled with dedicated administrators and teachers. My daughter has an anxiety disorder and OCD. Every single teacher CARES. The combination of education, creativity and fun that they have created is unmatched. The classrooms are small and kids with every learning difference are treated with respect and patience. Without the chaos and fear of a big school, our daughter got past the nerves that held her back and learned to speak to adults and advocate for herself. She had warm and nurturing advisors who saw her potential and appreciated her strengths - they gave her CONFIDENCE. The education and unparalleled college prep she received from C/A is why she's thriving in college today, and why our younger daughter is now a C/A student...Read 11 Reviews
