High School Senior: What I love about my community is that everybody, from kids to alumni and grandparents, are very involved in all activities. Everybody in this county is very supportive of the high school and students, especially the student-athletes. We always get good crowds and support at games as well as donations to the athletic foundation to assure that they are continued. It is the only high school in the county but even if I were given the choice I would always choose SJSHS. I love the small town, family feeling that surrounds my hometown and school. Being small is a curse and a blessing to the students because on one side it is very interactive, personal, familiar and great for learning but on the other side comes less funding, opportunities, peers and slim-to-none chances of college recruitment in athletics and the like. Junior: Looking back at my middle school years, I can say that I had a satisfied experience. I feel like the staff and students of Scappoose Middle School are very supportive, caring, and very academically engaging. I became close to some of the staff, which made my middle school experience comfortable. Those staff taught me important life lessons that I will forever carry along with me. If I ever decide to live in Scappoose again, I’ll be more than happy to go back to visit and and get the change to “relive” my memories.... Read 3 reviews

Senior: The teachers and faculty do seem to care about you and want the best for all of their students. Scappoose High is on the smaller end of schools, and with that being said, there can be slight disadvantages. For example, AP/dual-credit class options are limited compared to other schools, and there isn't much diversity among the students who attend. Even though it may be a small school though, with the class options we do have, and as well as sports, Scappoose excels! There are many resources offered to struggling students, including a four-week period at the end of each semester meant for those who failed a class to get their credit back. Parent: Otto Peterson Elementary has been a good school for my kids. I have had 3 kids attend and they have all been successful there. The teachers are all responsive, as is the administrative staff. The only issue we have had with this school and this district in general is the parents. While most of the parents are great there is a loud minority of super conservative parents that like to stir up issues. There have been instances of parents wanting to ban books and activities that they are personally offended by, instead of just choosing to opt out of the specific subjects.... Read 1 review

Parent: CCCS has been an amazing experience for my children. My son attended 1st grade through 8th grade (no high school) and my daughter has been at the school since kindergarten. I love the small class sizes and the individualized care. The teachers are amazing and give 110%. I have no concerns for the safety of my children.
