Senior: Magna Vista High School has provided me with a learning environment where I can take control of the way that I obtain knowledge and grow as a student. What makes Magna Vista unique is a New Tech program names Warrior Tech Academy, which I am apart of, which has a foundation of project-based learning. Through this program, I have learned how to become an effective public communicator while also enhancing my leadership and collaboration skills. Outside of Warrior Tech, through the math and science classes that I have taken over my course of high school, has also been a positive learning experience. The teachers are always willing to help and stay after to make sure that all students are on the same page. Overall, everyone in the building is all working toward the goal of student success and creating a future for the upcoming generations.

John M. Morehead High School

Alum: While our school might be smaller, we are still mighty. Students have the opportunity to be challenged academically and through extracurriculars. There are many AP courses and while there might not be as many as there are in larger schools, the faculty still provide challenging projects and assignments that prepare your for college and careers. As an alumnus of Morehead, I was much more prepared for college than my classmates at UNC Chapel Hill. The rigor of our curriculum taught us how to study and actually learn material, while also providing us the experiences in public speaking, making presentations and fielding questions, and developing term papers. Many organizations exist that provide opportunities to further engage course concepts and compete on the state and international stage, such as DECA. While there are many students that choose not to engage their coursework or participate in extracurricular activities, that is because of a lack in opportunity or support.
