Parent: In June 2016, our family moved to Kankakee. My husband was hired as a Spanish and P.E. teacher at Grace Christian Academy. We do not have family in this area so moving to this area could have been very challenging. But it was so amazing the way this community loved and welcomed our family. This transition had many difficult challenges for us because we were coming from Ecuador where we have been serving as missionaries. This whole school community helped us in so many ways in this transition. ...Our oldest son started Pre-Kindergarten and is now in 4th Grade. He has learned so much, not just academically but also learning GOD's truth. Our two younger boys started Preschool here and are now in Kindergarten and 2nd Grade. I have enjoyed watching my sons build great relationships with their teachers, staff, and friends in school...Grace Christian Academy is a strong community focusing on family. We are so thankful the Lord brought us here! We love our Grace Christian Academy!Read 29 Reviews

Senior: I love that Bishop McNamara High School is a smaller school because it allows a closer bond with teachers and more access to help when needed. The teachers in general are very engaged with their students which I love and they try and make education more of a fun learning experience than sitting at a desk all day. The teachers here always try there best to go along with the learning techniques that each student has and they take many hours out of there day to help students after school. And I also love the fact that the teachers and staffs' goal for us, there students, is to succeed and graduate with our best potential...Read 54 Reviews

Parent: My son is in third grade at St. Bart's. We moved from an independent Catholic school and the change in his self-confidence was obvious right away. Class size is small, my son has a homeroom teacher and additional teachers for Spanish, Music, PE, library and computer lab. Although we don't need extra help in the classroom, I know resources are available for kids who have different challenges. Extracurriculars are provided through CYO or private companies and include chess, sports, science, robotics. The school body is small and teachers know all the kids by name. Recess is well supervised, and aftercare is fun. Hot lunch is catered and the caterer offers reasonably balanced meals. Uniform is easy, no jacket for the little guys in lower school! We'd love to see more after school activities being offered to the kids...Read 28 Reviews

Senior: I loved Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School. It was a very supportive and involved school. BBCHS became a safe place for many students as schools should. All staff cared about students are how they were doing in classes and what there plans were for the future. The kids loved communicating with teachers about life and knowing they can go to the staff with any problem was awesome. The students were super involved with the Best Buddies program which is a group of students that pair up with a mentally handicapped student and bonded with them throughout the school year doing different activities together and learning together. It is a super amazing school and program to be apart of. The only thing I would change about BBCHS was the lack of equal support for sports, the school is very centered around football and volleyball and the other sports get less attention from the school...Read 372 Reviews

Senior: The liveliness of the school was everything I wanted in a high school. Teachers would always go above and beyond to make sure students had fun but also understood what they were teaching. Sports, clubs, activities, volunteer work was easy to get involved in because everyone was so welcoming. One thing I would like to see change is the support students receive. High School is a hard time for everyone and some of the counselors didn't help the students as much as they should have. Support is essential during this time in every students life and they didn't do as much as they could and should have. Overall my experience at Manteno High School was very positive...Read 96 Reviews

Parent: The staff and the families that make up this school are awesome. The genuinely care about each other and if someone gets hurt in the town, they are all their for support. We are a farming community and have a very wide area (open fields) that cover the school zone, however we don't have the revenue or tax dollars we need to get the baseball fields, or soccer fields or even a track built. Wish someone would be able to help with that...Read 7 Reviews

Senior: Elizabeth Seton is a very sisterhood-based community. This community makes sure each student is supported and achieves academic success. Elizabeth Seton allows its students many opportunities and pre-career programs so that they can focus on what they want to study in college early. Programs such as these allow students to figure out what their passions include and if they are interested in making a career out of it. Elizabeth Seton allows students to meet and connect with new people by bringing alumni and guest speakers to talk to current students about challenging times they will face in life and ways to avoid them. Also, Elizabeth Seton ensures that everyone in the community feels safe, loved, and understood no matter what religion, background, or ethnicity they come from. Academics are very important at Elizabeth Seton but also creating a sistership between students that will last beyond a student's graduation is an important goal too...Read 310 Reviews
