Parent: As a teacher who has taught 12 years in a public school setting, I would have never imagined choosing private school for my sons. After a tough year in kindergarten, my oldest son struggled and didn’t show much academic progress due to large class size. After much thought, I realized that a smaller class size is what he needed to cultivate the best learning environment. After researching all the available private schools here in Southern Frederick County, I was dismayed by the few options nearby. After thoughtful consideration, Barnesville fulfilled all of my expectations as a teacher parent. It provided small class sizes, a great amount of time spent outside, many cross-curricular learning opportunities, and a strong community. The teachers are extra caring and it was evident during our time distance learning. Parent: Our family - parents and kids alike - have loved St. Benedict Catholic school. The faculty and staff are wonderful and work hard to keep focus on learning while keeping things fun. The teachers are warm and accessible with great communication - I know what is going on in the classroom, I know what my kiddos are learning and how they are doing, and if there are any issues it is easy to discuss with their teachers. Parent: We are very happy with NGFS as it provides a forward-thinking environment that supports a growth mindset for learning. Our child is currently in the middle school and has been attending NGFS since the first grade (Rainbow). The teachers are invested in the students, and provide curriculum that is engaging and academically challenging. The in-classroom learning, as well as outside learning is thoughtful and engaging. It is very rare to have a school that encourages for kids to be outside, and I can’t say enough good things about the balance the school provides for this ranging from both indoor & outdoor PE, outdoor classroom activity, lunch and breaks.
