Parent: Both of our kids started at The New School in ninth grade, after eight years of public school. It was one of the best parenting decisions we've ever made. Everything about this school is terrific. The teachers are passionate, inspired, and inspiring. Small, topics-driven, seminar-style classes foster creativity and independent thinking, while the welcoming atmosphere makes everyone feel at home. Our two kids turned out to be very different kinds of learners, but both thrived at The New School. Middle School Student: It is the best school I have ever been to and has opened the gates for me to really be able to learn. I especially like language arts and my teachers truly have a broad understanding of the world and inspire us. I have read books including Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, The Power of One, Frankenstein, Henry IV, Henry V, Oedipus The King, and many more. I came in 7th grade and I thought I would have a hard time, but that was not the case. The school is so diverse and I have gotten to learn about a bunch of different cultures and it has given me a better understanding. Senior: I have attended Madison Country Day School from kindergarten through senior year. Because of the size and environment of the school, I feel very close to my classmates and community; they're like my second family! The small size has also allowed me a lot of flexibility regarding enrichment, course/subject advancement, and specialized learning tracks. However, while the school does provide limited support services, the student body sometimes acts as a resonating chamber for negativity, stress, and poor mental health, especially in the upper grades....
