Alum: Davidson Academy was a good school. I have graduated recently and the school was definitely a great prep for college. However, in recent years things have really begun to go down the drain. Several teachers have been fired in recent years based on the personal bias from the board or administration. Speaking of administration it has changed hands multiple times just in the past 4 years. Most of the teachers at DA are great. There are many staples that really make the teaching staff. However, due to the firing of many other staples, the school has continuously hired teachers that are in no way capable. The relationships with students are beyond inappropriate and there is obvious bias, to clarify, I'm talking about the middle/high school. The elementary school is fantastic! The issues with the high school especially are too prevalent. As great as most of the teachers are, there are some that are absolutely terrible and the college resources are also bad unless you're going to UTK.... Read 104 reviews

Parent: We love that our kids have the opportunity to be in this school. They are flourishing. Christ is central. Teachers go the extra miles. Administration is present and caring and wise. We love a school that recognizes that even when the road is rutted, the labor and bumps are worth it. We love that the mission statement is a living and breathing thing and that the school is heading toward that goal together...for the long-term joy and benefit and our kids and the Kingdom of Christ. Years ago we heard another dad refer to dropping his kids off at JECA as a sort of act of worship. We feel that. Parent: We have been very pleased with this school. Our daughter has done very well and loves the teachers. They help each students strive for their potential and encourage them to press on even when they do not believe in themselves. The biblical teaching has been sound instruction and my daughter has felt safe expressing herself and growing in her faith. The opportunities for the students to participate in their own education with educators that have seen their abilities and push them towards their goals for adulthood has been inpressive. Bullying is addressed quickly bit also in a way that allows the students to participate in resolving conflict amongst themselves by communicating and working through their differences, which is greatly important in a time when the world seems to have lost the ability to communicate. Senior: I have been at PVCS since I was 2 years old. I am now a senior and enjoy the small-knit community and the closeness of the students and faculty. It is a small private Christian school where many kids are sent to be protected from the dangers of public school or be around other Christians like them. I have enjoyed my overall experience at PVCS, although it is much smaller than other schools and doesn't have as many athletics or academic opportunities. I would still recommend the school to someone looking for somewhere to send their kids where they want them to feel safe and protected. Works Here: Of all the schools I have worked in public and private, West Cheatham has the best and most professional faculty and staff. These people love their students and strive to create the best possible learning environment for "their kids." They help and support each other. I have never been in a school that has more teachers that have spent their careers there because there wasn't a reason to leave. There is great school spirit here too. Senior: The education we are offered by our school and the teachers has helped us so much and given me the opportunities to prepare for college. They have provided us with free ACT Prep since sophomore year, an amazing counselor that has guided us with the college applications all the way through to the very end. Senior: Harpeth High School is a very stereotypical public school in a small town. It has some amazing teachers who pour their hearts and souls into what they're teaching to make sure the students get the best education that they can provide. Like most public schools, some things definitely need improving, but the school is always finding new ways to change things up by painting walls or redecorating different spaces. It's a very small school, but it never feels over crowded, and teachers really take advantage of the small setting to create special bonds with their students that can't be found in the larger schools.... Senior: My experience at Sycamore High School has been nothing short of a roller coaster. My freshman year we went virtual, which was very difficult for me, considering I worked better in person. The next year when we went to hybrid schedule was a little easier but still not normal. By my Junior year we were almost back to complete normalcy. When I entered my senior year I made it my personal goal to make this year better than every other year had ever been. I ran for Senior class president in an effort to start making a difference. When I won that I gained the confidence to try to make a positive impact my Senior year. Me and my friends brought back the school spirit that had been majorly lost the years before. We started the Pep Club up again, ran organized meetings and encouraged other students to want to make a difference as well. Senior: Overall the school is great. I will first mention things that could be changed followed by the positive. First off, we need new ceilings. Every time it rains, our ceiling start to fall in. It could also use a new paint job.... every where. Our staff is wonderful though. They have pushed and encouraged me to where I am now and wouldn't be the same without them.
