Parent: Malvern faculty and staff have such a special gift tapping into our son's inner strengths. My son went from parochial to public school before finding his home at Malvern. He was quiet and ok with coming to school, doing his best each day. After a few short weeks his team of teachers have worked with him to place him in challenging classes, encouraging his participation in campus events, and stepping out of his comfort zone to explore a student leadership role. His first year provided so much personal awareness and growth. He began his journey learning who he is and how to build on these strengths, as well as recognize where he needs to be challenged. Something we spent many years partnering with outside counselors and teachers in his previous schools with little success. We knew we were missing something and the Malvern staff have been able to help him so quickly and effectively. Junior: This school does a great job at accommodating to students and is a great learning atmosphere. When it comes to teachers, Devon Prep is very complicated. I have had the greatest, most proficient teachers ever, but I've also had teachers where I would question the obtention of their degree. Despite these awful teachers, some teachers make the entire school worth it and will change your life. I believe it is a great school and I am happy to go here. Alum: The best thing about Villa is the environment of its classrooms. Villa girls are encouraged to speak their minds and are expected to do so without fear of 'being wrong' or 'sounding stupid.' Villa girls become truly comfortable asking questions, sharing opinions, or even contesting the teacher; nor do they fear judgement from classmates when speaking their minds. Encouraging young women to feel comfortable in a classroom facilitates high performance in college and in the work force. Villa's dedication to encouraging young women to confidently articulate themselves in the classroom sets their graduates up for real success - I am truly grateful for this formative experience. The big drawbacks: some admin. individuals were difficult to deal with and enforced rules to a very intense degree - which fostered a culture more focused on fear of punishment than growth and self-discovery. Parent: The Phelps school was perfect for our son, not only academically, but socially as well. He needed more attention from teachers than he could get at any other school. It was very easy for our son to sit quietly, doing the minimum. But, the terrific teachers at Phelps would nicely encourage his participation. His grades improved. And, he's thriving at a major college. Our son also had to participate in activities that he would not have otherwise. It added a breadth to his personality and interests. Parent: The choice of how & where to school children is one of the major decisions parents must make for their children. As parents of four children, this was a growing concern as our first child was reaching school age. While there were many options available that we explored, we are continually confident that Coventry Christian Schools was the best option for our family. With children now in the secondary and elementary levels, we remain grateful for this school community. Our top three reasons are: strong educational value(classical school model), family friendly community, and a safe environment on multiple levels. There are no outwardly negative elements of PASD and our academics are standard if not higher than neighboring districts. Alum: Kimberton Waldorf School is a school with unique experiences, but it is not without its flaws. Due to it being a small private school, there are smaller classes and closer connections with classmates and teachers. The school has a lot of opportunities to do art and learn about art. For school trips, there are many that take place outdoors with camping. There are a few trips with backpacking, one with canoeing, and another in 12th grade where the students go to Maine to learn about Zoology and have the opportunity to see the life that they are learning about. There are many hands on experiences such as that. Kimberton Waldorf being a small school also comes with its disadvantages. There are fewer clubs and less opportunities for sports. Senior: Renaissance Academy prides itself on making sure students are ready for college. The senior project program as well as academics and clubs prepare students to be well-rounded individuals. However I will argue that because of the high expectations of the school it is sometimes hard to accommodate if a student has certain needs. I have found that there are resources for students struggling to meet these expectations, especially those in rigorous classes, but it is often more overwhelming than an average high school. I believe mental health is extremely important and having high expectations is fine, but mental health should be deeply considered more often and more willing to accommodate needs. I think our clubs are the strongest asset of Renaissance. The Coexist club and Minority Student Union actively work to create an inclusive and diverse environment, and our administration encourages our clubs to be intersectional in our activism and initiatives.... Senior: I loved my experience at PJP and it’s been a huge blessing in my life to go there! The opportunities they give their students have impacted my life greatly. I am involved in musical theater, show choir, and band at PJP. In these programs I’ve been able to make so many friendships and I’ve learned so much about the craft that I love. School used to be something I dreaded and once I went to PJP I learned to love school and I really get excited about learning and seeing everyone each day. Pope John Paul’s response to covid was to have us go to school in a hybrid form. I am so grateful for the opportunity to get to go to school safely during these times. Parent: As far as I can see, the only negative to PAMS is that it is filled with middle schoolers. Anyone who has one knows what I mean. The facilities are brand new and amazing, although they could've added a little color to the hallways and lockers. The auditorium theater is better than some I've seen in the city. Senior: I had been introduced to the classical learning method employed by Regina Luminis at a young age, in 1st - 3rd grade at one of its sister schools, Regina Angelourum in Ardmore, PA. After leaving, I was bounced around various other curriculums, but I was not content. All of my classes seemed static and compartmentalized, and I felt I was actually learning very little. RLA provided this much-needed coherence; I was shown how interwoven and engaging my many subjects were. The operative word there is "shown:" I was not being force-fed information to simply regurgitate it onto a test. I was shown not what to think, but how. Parent: Excellent environment for high schoolers to grow ! My daughter is thriving here with the support of the instructors, the Head of School and the entire Fusion community. It's a school that has the power to make each student that attends Fusion Academy Malvern to feel that they are important and can do their best because they are worth it and are able to. Parent: Transferring to Montgomery was the best decision we made. After a very short time our child has become much more independent and confident. She loves school! In previous years she never enjoyed science. Now, science is her favorite subject! (the science teacher by the way is incredible!) All teachers are at Monty. Each teacher is unique and fully invested. Entering as the “ new kid” mid year did not phase her one bit. The admissions team, faculty, students and family laid out the red carpet for our daughter. The children are kind, polite and inclusive. Montgomery is more than a school, it is a family. Our only regret is that we didn’t enroll years ago. Thrilled we found this gem of a school!
