Alum: Science Academy was a great school in terms of education quality and classmates. We were also given direct access to advanced equipment in the engineering lab such as 3D Printers, Acrylic Printing Machines, Multiple Cutting Devices, and more- all for free! I am also very fond of the environment I was immersed in. Science Academy is a very competitive school. Its environment only motivated me to do better in my classes. The only thing that kept me from giving this rating a 5 stars was the sudden shift in rules that dampened my senior year. Administration changed a lot of the long term traditions that I anticipating enjoying when I was a freshman and definitely looked forward to as a senior such as the Renfest trip, Collaboration on Fridays, and being able to enjoy lunches with my Med High friends. Parent: All three of my children have been at this school. Well my son went when it was named BETA and he went on to Science Academy and now at UTRGV medical school obtaining a PhD. My oldest daughter graduated last year 2023. She is now at Lamar Academy doing very well . STPA prepared her for a challenging curriculum. She had mastery on all EOC both grade level and high school. My youngest will graduate this year and is very happy she also has mastered grade level and high school EOC so far. I like the fact you can stay in your own grade but advance several years in various subjects such as math, English and social studies. Lamar Academy does not allow you to skip English 1 even with a mastery level EOC. You will have to audit English 1 and get a grade that will not be calculated into your GPA. You do not have to repeat the EOC if you passed. Overall the teachers there are amazing and inspiring. Many of the parents are tigers like myself and I think that combo allows for greatness.... Junior: I have been going to South Texas ISD Health Professions since my Freshman year of High school. I have built so many friendships and relationships. They have the most amazing daily schedules, so I am never overwhelmed or overworked. They have no school uniform policy which really lets students express who they are and allow students to have religious freedom in their style of clothing. Alum: Juan Diego Academy is the school for those wondering what they want to do with their life, it supplies ways to express their creative outlets and talents. Not only was JDA an excellent school but it also provided me with a lot of knowledge about how life will be once I enter the real world. One of the most helpful classes for me, was religion, it helped me gain a new outlook on life and I highly recommend their counselor, Veronica Rodriguez. Senior: Best opportunities and the best teachers to ever exist. I loved it so so much here. Small school but never ever boring and I loved everyone who attended with me. It’s scary going into a smaller school but somehow there was more opportunities there than anywhere else. We were all blessed with the opportunity for an Associates degree and many of us were able to accomplish that. Achieve does a good job of taking care of their students by being constantly asked how they are, students interacting well with teachers and even just days where learning is made extra fun. Not only that, the district is great as well. Like I said, we were always checked up on and being in a small school, everyone was friends and there was still the best parts of high school. Senior: World Scholars, as well as the district, have been fantastic. Since junior high, I've been a student in the STISD district, and they have the best instructors. The teachers here are what keep you moving forward; even if you think something is impossible, they will always try to work with you to find a solution; their want to teach you is apparent; it is their passion. The IB classes and dual enrollment programs at World Scholars set it apart from other schools. You can either complete the IB diploma program in its whole or take dual enrollment courses at UTRGV or STC, or take both IB for the diploma and dual! Parent: All throughout Highschool I've been pushed by my coaches and teachers who I have close relationships with, which is mainly all my teachers since in Idea they all strive to better their student and to show that they matter. The environment is nice and the school is not very crowded. Its a great school for wanting to be better in your academics its also a great so for sports, although we don't have the required facilities as a regular public school, our school strives to make the best out of training and having to share a field with all the other sports and athletes we still manage to get great training in, in order to be successful in the sport. You have great motivation to excel in academics you teachers check up on your grades and make sure to see to it that you are passing so that you could have a great start to moving forward into college.... Senior: Ive attended Idea Mcallen College Preparatory since its initial opening in 2014. Ever since ive been here the atmosphere has been nothing short of rigourous and encouraging. Its full of counselors that push you and wish to see you succeed in all aspects of life, especially in school. The curriculums are tough, but the teachers themselves understand that, and they help with time management, and assignment management. The student body is also very welcoming! Overall my entire school experience from K-12th grade has proved to be amazing. Sophomore: I have been a student at Idea Mission since kindergarten. I value my position at this school very much. I have experienced many different perspectives from different teachers. Some who have made a very positive impact on who I am today. I’ve participated in almost every sport offered and have gone to state for both track and field and cross country. Idea Mission offers several educational resources for our students to succeed. I would move schools, but one thing that keeps me at Idea is the family. I enjoy knowing that when I go to school, I am surrounded by many peers who only want the best for me and want to see me succeed, as well as do anything in their power to help me accomplish success. Junior: Ever since middle school, my time at Idea Edinburg College Preparatory has been worthwhile. At this high school, I have met teachers that have provided me with support and guidance throughout my academic career. Wether it was in between classes or after school, these teacher were always available to talk to and reach out to for help, which is something that I greatly appreciate . Aside from the teachers, the students I have met and formed bonds with have also taught me the value of connecting with others. Without these people by my side, I know that my experience would drastically differ. Although there is many positives about Idea, one thing that is worth mentioning is the lack of variety in extracurricular activities and elective classes. I feel that with more options available, student would have a greater opportunity to explore and discover their talents and passions. Senior: Idea Donna is great for students that want to challenge themselves with great Pre-AP, AP, and IB courses that are rigorous. Administration is great at encouraging and pushing students to improve academically. Software and teacher lectures are well implement in student learning and other sources are encouraged. IB teachers are always involved looking to help students with any essays they have. Other high school teachers are always open to writing letter's of recommendation or heavily involved in college process. Something that needs improvement is counselor/ mental health awareness. Senior: At Idea Alamo college prep, it's all about team and family they are always there for you even after graduation as a senior and they help you through your college or university experience. They help you through all the steps needed to enter the college or university of our choice and they always push us to do our very best. Junior: IDEA College Prep- Pharr has a tendency to withstand itself amongst their amazing cultural camps and values. The school's work ethnic is amazing, alumni work daily with the help of the teachers. Teachers and Staff are there motivating and encouraging students to always strive for the top. However, like any other school IDEA Pharr has its downsides. For instance, throughout my time in the campus the biggest rant and commotion among alumni is the lack of extra curricular activities. The school offers Soccer, Basketball, Track, Cross- Country, and Volleyball, recently they added Cheerleading, this be amazing for athletic students but what about the ones who strive for intellect. The school doesn't have UIL, which is an amazing elective for college resumes, including the fact that UIL offers multiple clubs like Mathematics, Spelling- Bee, and Writing. Alum: I attended PSJA North Early College High School for 2 years (Junior and Senior year), I was a student of McAllenISD my freshman and sophomore year and I was faltering with classes. My mental state was starting to go downhill, teachers were not very understanding, I tried reaching out to administration but nothing was ever done.
