Alum: Sion is such an amazing school! I was able to take several ACCP and AP classes and entered college with many credits that allowed me to graduate in 4 years with a double major and minor. I grew in my faith, found my voice and confidence! I went to college on a significant scholarship for leadership. Alum: As a recent graduate from Blue Valley West High School, there were some definite pro's and con's. As a student I ran Cross Country, Track, and Diving, I would say overall my experience at Blue Valley West High School was positive. Great neighborhood nearby, teachers are nice and love to help their students. One of my favorite things as someone who deals with a learning disability BVW is very accommodating to the students with disabilities, the list goes on and on! Alum: AMDG! This is a great catholic high school, one of the best you can attend in the entire state. The sports program is fantastic. It may be even better than some colleges. The academics are of great quality - everyone in Rockhurst is both smart and athletic. The entire organization is closely connected to the local community and every Rockhurst students feel like brothers to each other. The only thing disappointing is diversity. This school is 90% white with few minorities, so there's not much to represent different cultures and races. Regardless, you'll never regret being part of the Rockhurst organization. Senior: BVSW high school has been an amazing experience. The diverse group of student athletes truly challenges the student body to bring their best to the athletics at the high school. The classes are diverse as well and the school offers hundreds of subjects so every student can find their interest. The theater and debate community are robust and provide an opportunity for every student. The best part about BVSW is the opportunity to attend the CAPS program for specific career interests. Parent: We have three children attending Whitefield and cannot say enough great things about it! The environment in this school is so wonderful because of the teachers and staff that are incredible people but also extremely gifted in what they do. One thing that stands out is how it has gently challenged our children in a way that has developed grit, critical thinking, and a joy for learning. Parent: Several pros but here's a few: The staff and teachers are like a family and truly care about the students. Parents are very involved in many different ways. Kids love going there! Cons: Playground needs to be updated to an ADA friendly one, would love to see more clubs/activities like foreign languages/STEM/chess/coding/drama. Senior: Aquinas has been my home for the past four years and I would not trade those years for anything. This school has given me a family that I will be a part of for the rest of my life. It has stellar academics and a very faith-filled community. There are many clubs, groups, and teams to be a part of. Everyone at this school is somehow involved in extracurricular activities. School spirit at STA is always in the air. From the pep assemblies to the football games, every student cheers on the saints. The teachers are some of the kindest, most supportive people I have ever met. I have not encountered a single teacher that I did not like or did not enjoy in their class. Alum: I attended Mize a great many years ago, and many things have changed. Much of the staff from Mize Elementary moved to Belmont Elementary when the latter was built. Mize is in a sleepy area of Lenexa, receiving students from both the suburbs of Shawnee and the outskirts of the small town of De Soto. Its students are predominantly white, living in middle-class homes. The school is well-funded accordingly, including a brand-new playground. Senior: Coming to Maranatha from a public school made a huge difference in my education. I am so glad I have had the privilege of learning from a Christian education. Most of the teachers and staff are kind and helpful and are always open to answering your questions. Some people in leadership need to be replaced and currently, Maranatha is in the process of doing that. Sports programs can definitely become better, but being on a team with the MCA community is great. I wish Maranatha had a counselor so the students could come talk to him/her about personal problems instead of burying the teachers with their problems. Middle school student: The best part is that they have a weekly club season that you must join. It’s great because they want to see you involved giving you a wide variety of clubs to your interest. Besides, all of the teachers are really nice and are willing to help you with any assignment and questions you have. The library has a lot of books for many people.
